I'm curious of others thoughts on this, the future of music. Most websites I have visted make a big issue of the future of music, specially were Apple's iPad and iPhone apps are concerned.

Granted, I have a iP4 and have some great music apps on there, including Nano Studio, Akai Studio, few synths and a genuine software filter from Moog Music (Filtatron) and they are very good. Music right from your pocket (where my iP4 is concerned.

Even some musicians have expressed to composing an entire album on a app on their iPad, Damian Albright (The Gorillaz) being one.

But then again, this is just another step towards synth-software on a new level.

If you rely the future of music to Apple, the industry will be more dead then it's now.

Although I'm a hardware geek, there is no denying that at present, Apple appear to be dominating the music scene with all their music apps. To be honest, it gets a bit boring after a bit. There is more to music making than Apple.

Apple has been doing pro music apps since the apple II.When apple bought logic they surprised a bunch of people.Many attest use logic as a sequenser/ Daw program.Apple making music programs for the i-phone/I-pad does not surprise me

Although the mobile devices are impressive, they've a long way to go before they could hope to replace a proper keyboard and a DAW.

Can't imagine an iPad only album would be any good.

Amen to that! Of course no professional composers using Vienna would be caught dead using something like Logic. Nor would you ever see major recording studios with Mac's.
Just having a go!

iPad apps are fun but for serious studio recording... I heavily doubt it. Definitely can be used as inspiration tools; but I'd love to see 3 guys walk into a studio, book time and when it comes time to track they whip out a couple of IPads and say "we're ready... Let's do this!"
