Moog Taurus III

Looks like a Phatty with Organ Pedal board bolted on....as with the Phatty,other than for engineering reasons can't understand why they never put the Outs/Inputs on the back panel??thats one of the things I hate about the Phatty


Did Anyone pre order any pedals???

So finally we get a glimpse of how they look. I think these look pretty neat... but are they really going to produce only 1000 of these? I have a hard time believing that...

1000 units yes... Perhaps they are just careful. If you read the comments on VSE, people have already started moaning about it. It doesn't sound like a pedalsynth would become a success. Who knows.

Well lets face it,would anyone show so much interest in a pedal unit had it not got the Moog Logo on it??

As always you'll get the minority who complain it doesn't sound as phat as the originals or it lacks this or that,but it gives those who can neither afford or want an original Taurus pedals the opportunity to own a replica with an authentic moog sound.

I'm interested in how they sound,other than that I have no desire or need to own a set.

Usually the VSE community is the positive minority. I doubt there are many non-nerds interested in the Taurus, unless we are speaking the obvious hiphop and R'n'B performers. Moog did a wrong step with the Memorymoog back in the days, so it's understandable that they take careful moves with this one.

The launch of the Memorymoog was only bad planning (at the time of DX7, analog was not fancy anymore)- today, a new polyphonic Moog would kick monsterass

As for the Taurus, it will most likely be used by all sorts of prog bands like Genesis, the Police and Rush.

Yes,I'd certainly welcome a MemoryMoog remake,or at least an up to date Moog Polysynth based around the Voyager,with up to 6 osc availible,however its been said it would be very financially risky for Moog to make a polysynth,which based on the cost of the Voyager would seem reasonably expensive against it,

that aside,based on the latest batch and interest in the Taurus Pedals,would have thought a small production run based on a supply and demand ethic would be more viable,as much as people say its pointless Moog making such Polysynth,I think it would be a massive hit,especially given the popularity of the Voyager/Phatty and all things Moog.

I reckon the company(Moog) have a hangup about the original Memorymoog given its reputation of being a bit of a dinosaur prone to breakdown and unpredictabilities,and are perhaps reluctant to try to recreate a polysynth in the same vein under the cloud that surrounded it,but even so with todays advances in components,I reckon they could better it and finally give us a decent Poly,who better to do it than Moog

Moog need to create something alongs the lines of a supercharged Voyager/Andromeda Hybrid,it would most certainly be on my shopping list.

If Moog decides to go the poly way, I think it would be something like a polyphatty. That would probably make it quite affordable, compared to a polyphonic minimoog.

I wonder how long it will be before Moog see an opening in the synth market and start making modular units or Kits along the lines of the Doepfer style build your own beast,I reckon this would be more welcomed than perhaps a dedicated polysynth,surely this would be more appealing to most synth/Moog enthusiasts than a single hardware synth that would be obsolete in specs after a while.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a Moog modular system would be great if they made them again.

Well, face it, if they think the launch of the immensely popular Taurus pedals is risky, they will never ever recreate anything modular or polyphonic.
