Another British icon passes. Edward Woodward, the cream of British acting has passed away at the age of 79 in hospital from suspected pnuemonia. Woodward was mostly famous for such leading roles in classic British film and television such as 'Callan', 'The Equalizer' and his leading roll in 'The Whickerman'.

RIP Edward Woodward
I love the Wicker Man - the 1973 version is so much better than the Nicolas Cage remake. One of the best horror movies (If horror is the right description) ever made. I happened to see the scene near the end of the parade with everyone wearing masks and the chop-chop game when I was a kid... it scared me witless for years afterwards!

A great actor and he died just up the road from me at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
I'll always remember him for the Equalizer, used to love that show when I was younger.
And of course the Whicker Man.
He is referenced to in the remake,Nicholas Cage's character is called Edward & the little girl's surname is Woodward.
