Hello Everybody

I'm french and new on this forum.

Of course i'm a big fan of Jm Jarre so i needed an Eminent 310u standard
to play oxygene and equinoxe live

This organ sounds so organic and hypnotic

I use it with a small stone phaser v2 (make 1978) and v4 (new edition)

Is there anybody here that have Eminents ?

i have two. next month i'll get 3rd [white]

i have theatre, and second thearte that is sth like mix.. registers calors are not typical to theatre

Eminent 310 owner here also.
I haven't used it or switched it on in a very long time,I've finished with the Jarre replications and Jarre style tracks I did utilising the E310,as I no longer have a need for the organ nowadays it won't be making the Move to my new studio premises once completed(which should be mid November)

Although its a nice instrument I've grown tired of having a large amount of synthesizers and equipment,so the Eminent will be up for sale later this year,due to its lack of use in my music now(I sold my MP7 earlier this year also)

There is a huge mis understanding about the Eminent 310u and Jarre. JMJ mostly don't use the string ensemble only, but in most time in combination with the registers of that organ. Everybody thinks that is was only the string ensemble that make it like oxygene or equinoxe. NO, if you have a eminent 310 combine some rigisters too with the string ensemble and the right effects. It sounds like night and day. I think that Jarre have never used only that string ensemble. But always in combination with the registers (i speak in the dry way of the eminent)

other registers were used for
- oxygene 2 solo
- oxygene 5 solo and slow part (mid registers)
- equinoxe 4 solo and "tibias" during "slower" part

can't remember more

Other registers where used on Oxygene 7-13 :

TIBIA 4' + TIBIA 8' + PRINCIPAL 8' + UPPERMAN 8' + SUST +VIBRATO 3/4

Which effects do you use on your Eminents ?

I use EH Small Stone USA v2 to play Oxygene/equinoxe and the reedition V4 for Oxygene 7-13. I use also a boss DD7 delay.

Not only JMJ used the Eminent : it is used by Francois de Roubaix on the score
"La scoumoune". It is used also by Patrick Juvet on "Les bleus au coeur" and
Christophe on "Les mots bleus".

Pink Floyd seems to have used it on "The Dark side of the moon"

It takes too much space in my new apartment and like Equinoxe says, I do my own music nowadays. I might do some JMJ covers in the future, but I'll use a virtual eminent or sth...

I dont own Eminent and like sounds but its really big and too pricey to my taste when we still talk only few usefull sounds. i think price when is available here etc even common analogs can be pricey and old synths are hard repair (needs more this than never and some parts are impossible or pricey get).

I really think that people have to develop their own sound. Eminent through SS is Jarre and you cannot escape that. Any time you use it, it'll remind people of Jarre.

Unless you create a major opus and use it sparingly in there, in an original way, that sound is pretty much useless for anything but covers. And doing covers for the rest of your days suggests hobby not making a living doing music.

You can get the authentic sound using VSTis anyway.

Only music matters nothing else i mean tools not important but how you use them is. and if i make JMJ cover or any other cover i want make own style. I still covers what sounds almost exactly same than orginal ones but unique is better.

There where more artists from the 70ies that used the Eminent 310. Jarre was the famoust artist who played the eminent 310. And that is probably because he used it in combination with a phaser effect.

Bernard Drukker "speelt op het Eminent Symphony orgel". The whole record is played only with an Eminent 310. (that record was released in 1974)

and another artist of the 70ies had used the Eminent 310 but i forgot his name.

How do you connect your small stone ? To the headphone connector or to the backward
connector ?

I use headphone connector but the problem is the small stone is mono so i use
a boss dd7 stereo delay connected to the output of the small stone. I mix the stereo output of the boss dd7 (small stone+delay) with the other direct output of the headphone connector.

Is there any other possible connection ? It seems that backward connector comes with
a more strong orbitone effect...

Have you tried other effects than Small stone/delay like rotary speaker on Eminent ?

Eminent is very good machine but need to clean up, a lot of time giving to entire open and clean note by note, restore all metalic contact,...

I have a little mod with the output because I don't like the stereo output in front on the eminent. I add some resistor and two output at line level. A switch HP (4 pole, one by speaker) can switch off the internal speaker or not.
A separate output for Bass pedal is possible in case when you use small stone for strings and no effect for bass pedal.

I try to separate upper keyboard sound and lower keyboard sound but it's not possible because both are internal mixed to come in the Strings ensemble section and then to the amplifier.
