I have the 1983 2344 068 CD as well as the re-master/issue that came out in '96? as well as the 2007 new master recording. Which do people consider to be the best mix/issue and why?

I prefer the 95 Mobile Fidelity release myself. I'm very suspicious of the 97 remaster, since the Equinoxe, Zoolook and Chronologie remasters are very bad.

1. MFSL Half-speed master
2. Live in your living room
3. Old polydors

Just downloaded the MFSL version of Oxygene and Equinoxe. Why do think they are better mixes?

Well you cannot always "download" quality

The polydor Equinoxe has a lot of crackle, during the beginning of Equinoxe 3 for example. The Mofi has a lot less of that crackle. The Sony remaster has left and right swapped, so we are not even going to discuss that.
About the '07 Oxygene. It's a new recording, so it's a bit different. For example: Oxygene 3 has a different ending to link it to Oxygene 4; the bird sounds at the end are missing on the new recording.

That's what Dreyfus said.
Their official statement was: "The older released were swapped, this new one fixed it".

Damn.
It would just be SO beneficial for those two, Dreyfus & JMJ (and not to mention the fans), if they would just mend their differences or at least call a detente.

I have to go with the 2007 remaster of the original since the ending "solo" of Oxygene 4 is more intact in that one and doesn't switch to the Oxygene 5 bubbles that quickly.
However, the unnecessary noises in Oxygene 1 do kind of detract its quality.
Better go with the MFSL release - and for that matter - the MFSL vinyl release. The CD versions are just too cold.

"Music For Super Larkets"
Sorry just a very poor joke. Sometimes you just have to stop up and think about what those abbreviations actually mean
