I read the discussion about the Zoolook recording with interest and, by cross-relating it to some other information, I came to a conclusion that, as Jarre continued to work on in the 1980s, he may have had more and more pieces that happened to be composed and recorded during recording sessions but nevertheless were never included in the respective albums released afterwards. Even now, unlike the reissues of recordings by many other artists, to name the Pet Shop Boys for example (with heaps of remixes and long versions, a marketing trick to boost sales, apparently) the reissues of older Jarre's albums are never supplemented by such left-overs, the only exception being Teo and Tea, and perhaps the singles and remixes of Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13 as well. I think that lately Jarre has found himself faced with the choice between yielding in to the taste of the industry and composing standard 4-minute tracks complemented by remixes and continuing to work on concepts out of which no track may be taken.

It would be interesting to know whether or not there have been any tracks that were composed for his first two albums but were not included in the end.

It's hard to say, but I remember some talking about tracks that JMJ left out on Oxygene. I don't have anything else. We have been around it before. As the consumer/listener it's always hard to say what's going on in the musician's studio. Most musicians have played around with the music, untill they reach what they want before the final recordings, so JMJ has probably composed and worked on tracks, which he then turned down on the final album.

Hmm, Jakob, this is quite interesting. I'd be happy if you gave me a link to that discussion.
To tell the truth, in my opinion it's very wise not to add any such tracks to re-issues. It tells me that some commercial aspects are not allowed to take control over the artist's original intent and vision.

I would gladly look after the thread, but I don't think it was said in a specific thread. Honestly I wouldn't know where to look after it. Radek of this forum composed some music called 'the lost tapes', as far as I remember as a joke regarding the subject.

Indeed JMJ mentioned once in an interview there is some unreleased oxygene material.
But there is also the music for his commercials from the 70ies (Nesle, Pepsi, Autoroute) and 1990 (the Remenances watercompany, I think this was originally for his cancelled Minguettes concert in Lyon '89).
The Palawan track was offered as free download on jeanmicheljarre.com in 1991, but this was not the full version (at the Cousteau video, there was 4 parts).
Jarre also composed 1 or 2 mexican-style tracks for the cancelled '91 concert.
Volcanic Dance from South-Africa '92 was also never commercially released, just like the Visitorz music from 2001.
But who knows how much more there is in his archive!

All one and the same track. Said to be a pre-version of Oxygene 4.

That's actually a remix of Calpso 2.

AFAIK there were two short parts, one of which is a pre-version of Chronologie 8.

Personally I think there is little out there, as JMJ is much of a perfectionist, I'm not sure whether or not he would've kept some drafts... but who knows?

It's not called "blahblahcafe" for no reason, you got that right...

If you look at the Metamorphoses tracklist in Jarre's studio, you can see there 15 tracks - 3 more than on the official album. Track 12 is "The sun" which was played at the 12 DOTS concert... Look here:

...and track 4 is a unknown track: "The... (?)"
