Kanta, was this your card?

That is truly amazing.

For those of you who may be wondering....

Last week Kanta very kindly agreed to take part in a long distance experiment. I sent her a pack of cards and some simple instructions. She was to shuffle the cards in a manner that would end up with half the cards face up and half face down. Next she picked a card and returned it to the pack which was then shuffled again. The cards were then returned to me.

Despite the distance between us (approx 50 mile) and the multiple shuffles I was able to find her chosen card, revealed above.

Could you tell my shuffle ability by looking at the cards?

Trust me I've seen alot worse.

As always there is something hidden to the naked eye. One of my former classmates was a magic freak. It was crazy what he could do. Some of the tricks were almost physic. One of the most crazy tricks results in a set of card being split in red and black cards, and the testperson looks to have the biggest influence on it.
Signals, unnoticed influence or something else... some cardtricks are crazy.

Couple of questions.

Was the pack of cards new, meaning they had only very recently been opened so remaining fresh and untouched on their faces (rear & front)? . . . until Kanta touched them.

If they were, were the cards sprayed with invisible ink, similar to what the police use to detect finger prints on marked items/products - then under ultraviolet light, said card with finger prints were found?

The red and black card trick is called 'Out of this World' and has been voted the worlds best card trick by magicians.

The cards were fairly new but had been used a couple of times.

Funnily enough Kanta had a similar idea about finger prints but no they weren't sprayed with any type of chemical. They were a standard pack of Bicycle brand playing cards.

I tried to do the weave shuffle but it was half and half.

I did ask Phil his secret but he said he would have to kill me after he told me.

And Kanta has just volunteered to be sawn in half at the next JMJ concert....
