I have just been listening to these albums and i love them, i think that they are so underrated. they are so cool and fresh from a sound point of view. so i created this topic to chat about them...

What does everybody think of these two albums???

I guess Sessions 2000 is too special and jazzy for my likings But GoL is a nice album. It does include one or two tracks that Im not too fond of (again a bit too jazzy or acoustic), but the majority of the album is quite good and chilling

Both albums are nice to listen it, but I don't do that frequently...

Sessions is somewhat darker, more jazzy, seems also much more improvised, but I like it. Especially May 1 and June 21 apart from the obvious March 23.

As for GOL - it's totally different from S2k, more relaxing, chill-out. It's also more accessible imo. I like all the tracks, although I'm not too fond of both GOL parts 1 & 2 and Pleasure Principle. I also slightly prefer the live version of Velvet Road - (Children Of Space) - although I think Velvet Road fits better into the album.

My girl thinks the cover artwork is really sad too - prefers me to not listen to it when she's around cause the artwork is showing on the screen of my comp. And not small...

If only this Vizitors album will ever get released. I really consider this as Chapter 1 of that era...

I like both albums. But listen to GOL more.

But you adore everything if someone would wear an ugly sweater one day and then the next JMJ would put it on you would find it the most wonderful sweater of the year all of a sudden...

Atm, I am looking for a black shirt one similar to JMJ's for myself.

Since Oxygene 7-13, I have eagerly awaited Jarre's next album and been thoroughly dissapointed with them all. I thought Sessions was pathetic and G O l boring.

Will he ever return to making big vibrant synthesizer albums that reflect his true ability instead of buying the latest mainstream toys and rushing out a recording of him messing about with them?

I don't listen to those albums regularly. For that matter, I don't even have them on my computer. GoL was kind of a letdown for me and while Sessions 2000 wasn't the Jarre stuff I've been wanting since Oxy 7-13 (or Metamorphoses in retrospective), it's a still a great album and everytime I listen to it I can sense some kind of a "suck on this" mood for all those people who keep wanting new Oxygenes or Rendez-Vous or more waiting for Cousteau and just about anyone else really.

But neither of them really work live and I really hope they won't be part of the next tour. Them and Aerology (and Aero versions in general).

I agree! I love the Vizitors Live CD (I have the bootleg) and think this is far superior to Sessions and GOL (which I think are pretty great--at least Sessions is very good, GOL comes in 2nd). I guess I'll just continue to listen to the bootleg until Jarre decides to release it officially. I mean come on, TK could really use the money...

For me, GOL is better than S2000.
But, i read an other forum, its pity that majority of the music is from hand of Francis Rimbert.
I want to belive that JM has been maintaining his efforts, skills and power for the next record!

I don't know if the music is mainly from Francis Rimbert. I know they collaborated together.
I have heard Francis' albums, and although they are good, Francis' albums are definitely not on the same level as Jarre.

It could be a case where the sum is greater than it's part with regards to GOL and S2000 where Jarre and Francis worked together and created something that was better than what they would have done individually. Or maybe it is a simple case of Jarre drawing inspiration and creativity from another collaborating artist much the same as he did with Michel Geiss. In the end it's still Jarre pushing the buttons, calling the shots and editing it all together.

I have heard this story that Rimbert has composed GOL, but I don't believe it, cause his albums are really shitty compared to what JM does. Why would he do something better than his own work and have it released under the name of JMJ? That would be foolish...

JMJ created his own music. If this is not the case and someone else did, then this person is silly to let JMJ take all the credit, good or bad.
