So here we are 20 years later (i still cant comprehend how long it has been) after the legendary destination docklands concert in london. i have to decided to open up this new post to commemorate this great concert and to discuss memories/trivia about the event. plus share any self made videos that commemorate the concert.

the Space of freedom forum even has a petition to get this concert remastered for Dvd, even though the odds of this happening are 0 it is nice to see the effort.

the concert will always hold a special place in my heart as it is where my parents met for the first time.

i ask all of you who attended the concert what memories really stand out from the event.

i have created a re-hash of the intro which can be found here . it is only a first draught so dont criticize too much, lol.

DD was the first ever Jarre concert I attended. And what a show. Fine memories, even though I got soaked to the skin and nearly came down with the flu.

DD - Destination Docklands, or Destination Disaster, or Destination Downpour, which ever way to want to look at it

DD was my first JMJ concert as well. As a consequence my anticipation was huge, helped no doubt by the massive promotional hype surrounding the concerts.

Jarre was right at the middle of his album selling peak, and as a fan then of 7 years, the chance to see the man live was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Yes, it cost me the bones of two months wages, yes the weather was wet on a whole new level, and the sound was washed down the Thames (thank goodness I brought the Walkman), and the travel time walking back to the trains was a nightmare ..

But what an experience: the music, lights, fireworks, the trojan work done by the stewards and staff on site, and on the way to the concert. The police and travel co-ordination was top class, the warmth and good feeling was palpable despite the freezing cold and rain.

I'll never forget it .. :D

i wish everyday for this to be re mastered for dvd, but deep down i know this will probably never happen. what would have to be done in order to get this released (e.g copyrights) surely because JMJ composed the music and performed the concert he must have some say in what is done?? i mean it is HIS concert.

I want it on DVD, too. But what we want, we don't always get. :( Copyrights are a pain in the butt , especially if it's going against the artist.

Now that is something I'd love too see, there is so much that happened on stage that could'nt be seen from the grandstand. There was the trade-off: go near the stage or see the whole spectacle. :D

i suppose what would be a good idea is to release a remastered cd with all of the tracks on. i suppose this is a more realistic idea, but, again will probably never happen. just think all of the audio/video of this concert is just sitting in some archive rotting away and collecting dust
