Version 3 of the popular web browser Mozilla Firefox has been released, and is a great step forward for free software and web browsing generally.
Never tried Firefox before? Try it, I don't think you'll regret it!
If you download Firefox 3 within some hours, you'll be counted, and maybe have a part in the Guinness Book of World Records!

You'll find the counter here (soon at 6 million downloads and aroud 4700 downloads per minute).

Yay! :D

Got F3 running on three different systems here... a 2 and a half year old Mac Mini (G4 (intel) 2.1), a PC running XP SP3 thats about 2 years old and my Vista (SP1) laptop...

man, I love the speed and response of how quickly it loads, BUT....! If I open a weblink with a java application (for example, our town halls webcam (I love weather watching :P ) it doesn't close down properly and I have to go into task manager to shut it down...
But thats just about the only niggle (minor complaint) I have.

Other than that, it runs sweetly on all our systems.. (you do NOT want to know what each system goes through each day - I'm surprised we havent killed anything yet - oh wait, we did... two years go... ah well... )

I don't feel tempted to try the new Opera browser, but I've used Flock before in the past - and as a social networker (in theory) it's quite a decent browser - based on the FF backbone and is more geared towards facebook, bebo, flickr and a few other 'social' sites... (it actually does a pretty good job with youtube - which so far, other browsers havent managed to do... but thats just MY opinion!)

Either way, I've been a happy user of FF and TB for quite some time... :D
