"Princess Diana was unlawfully killed due to the "gross negligence" of driver Henri Paul and the paparazzi, an inquest jury has found.

The jury reached the same verdict for her companion Dodi Al Fayed.

The jury also specified that Mr Paul's drink-driving and a lack of seatbelts contributed to their deaths."


Just like the JFK assassination the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, will be the subject of many arguements for years to come.

They should bill Fayed, it was his lame brain ideas of a cover up that promted the inquiry in the first place.

I think Fayed has payed out for his own investigation into the claims, but not for this particular inquiry

Don't think Fayed has paid a penny towards this farce. He should be made to cough up, also William and Harry should sue for corporate manslaughter as Fayed employed the drunk who was driving the car. The money could then be given to one of Diana's charities.

2nd day in the news and there still banging on about Fayed not being happy with the outcome.

Mohamed al Fayed has abandoned his 10-and-a-half-year legal quest to prove that Diana, Princess of Wales and his son Dodi Fayed were murdered by the security services.

The Harrods owner said he was doing so for the sake of her sons, Princes William and Harry.

In an interview with ITV News, Mr al Fayed said he accepted the verdict of the inquest "with reservations" and said: "Enough is enough."

But he maintained he still believed his son and the princess were murdered and said the inquest backed up his belief.

He told Sir Trevor McDonald: "I'm a father who has lost his son and I've done everything for 10 years. But now with the verdict I accept it, but with reservations.

"Enough is enough... for the sake of the two princes, who I know loved their mother.

"I'm leaving the rest for God to get my revenge. I'm not doing anything any more... this is the end."

He also criticised coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker for not exploring every aspect of the case.

Diana and her lover were killed alongside their driver Henri Paul when the Mercedes they were in slammed into the 13th pillar of the Alma Tunnel in Paris on August 31 1997.

After 10-and-a-half years and inquiries likely to cost taxpayers well over £12 million, the 11 jury members concluded that the "People's Princess" was unlawfully killed by bad driving.
