What I would be interested to know is are there any other images that show this "thing". The caption under image 2 says " green circle shows the area where Nasa analysts spotted what appears to be a humanoid figure moving away downhill". This does seem to suggest there could be. . . or it's a widely educated guess by the reporter.

If it is the start of an alien invasion from Mars, and they turn up on earth in Tripods, just chuck Tom Cruise in front of them. That'll send'em running.

That can't be true, they are still argueing about that on venus, nothing has been decided yet... (and won't be for a long time)
