drums on Ethnicolor

This is one of my favorite moments from Jarre...
The drums are really thundering, specially since I bought my new senn cans lol
But are those real , I see there was a drummer (who comited suicide next year) on album, but he could have been hitting a controler.
Or not, are those real drums?

Never heard about the suicide drummer. I think the drums were made with Simmons SDS 5.

That wouldn't be surprising but I didn't know about it, teh drums just sound typical for Simmons drums and the SDS5 was listed in the albumsleeve

Sorry I said "next year", forgot that zoolook was in 1984
as for the drummer, well Yogi Horton is credited for drums for that album, and he committed suicide in 1987
He must have been drumming on drum pads for that album

No it wouldn't since Jo hammer took over in 1986 and Yogi jumped in 1987....
The reason is probably much simpeler, in the 80's Jo hammer was a well known session drummer in france and he was availlable and Yogi probably wasn't...
