I saw this (DIY?) Electronic Drums in some videos/photos of Kraftwerk. I think this is DIY, and if are, where I find some schemas to I do one?

Yes, I guess this is DIY, but I will ask a friend who is into DIY, maybe he knows

They should be fairly simple to build. The drumsticks are (probably) metal rods which when hit the copper plates connect a circuit of perhaps 5 Volts. This would provide a gate output from every pad, which can be connected to synthesizers or internally to Kraftwerk's DIYed drum synths.

Yops, that's what my friend told me, with a MFOS SoundLab, you connect a piezzo and you get the sound !

Kraftwerk used ordinary rhythmboxes AFAIK (Vox Percussion King & Farfisa Rhythm Unit 10). Those were blended with percussive sounds from their synths. They modified the boxes with individual trig in for all the drum sounds. But no DIY from what I've heard - just the trig devices.

Ah right ok, that makes sense. I always thought they were DIY cos the drums sound so unique though...

Nico: Using piezos is a different way, I don't think this is how these operated because of the copper pads and metal sticks (you wouldn't need the metal sticks to conduct a voltage if you were using piezos), but it is easier with piezos.

This is to connect in a synth, I need one that make the sound without synthesizers....
