Firstly, I would like to point out that this is not another of those "Oh, Jarres using Roland stuff again" and I don't want it to turn into another one of those, BUT, while browesing through the tones section of the Roland V-Synth GT, I found this.

Just whack on your T&T album, turn to track 5 and listen to O.K, Do It Fast.

O.K, I know the tempo isn't right, but it doesn't stop you thinking about the simularity of that riff. This is recorded directly from the GT without any alterations.

Yes you are right but it's like the sound is different. Perhaps Claude played the melody on a real guitar.

He didn't use the GT on T&T anyway...

Maybe, on this extract, the sound is played in a higher note than on the track, that's why it sounds different.
But you'll be able to confirm that, nö ?

No but it could still have been on the first V-Synth and then just reused for the GT

We know the first V-Synth has been used in the album (seen in the booklet notes). Also, the GT has many drum/loop patterns used for the GT, however, all these loops/patterns feature an icon along side (analog - Jupitor 8 icon, bass - bass guitar, FX - effects processor, etc, etc) and for this loop/pattern a Roland MC-808 icon is shown, so this riff could come from the MC-808. The guitar riff can only be played on the lower end 'C' note, the rest are solo's or drum patterns & basses.

Going back to Claude. Could possibly be that Claude/Jarre liked the riff, couldn't use the Roland version so Claude knocked up his own version.

Just to make it clear, I didn't actually indicate the GT was used for the T&T album, but it could have been. Some models were about overseas way back in February.

But maybe, JMJ sampled the sound, that can be another option

Well this sample we can hear here is not the one on T&T, but I guess Jarre heard it from the V-Synth or anywhere else that rhythm-pattern may be located, and liked it, so he got Claude or someone else to play it on a real guitar! Can´t see it could be any different!?

Indeed Maybe it is a little "tsk, another sound or pattern he didn't do himself" but I like this way of identifying what gear he used.
