Hi,

Can anyone help me with the notes for the fast synth sequence on Magnetic Fields 1? I think the sheet music I have isn't correct because it doesn't sound right.

It might be related to portamento or proper effect or a combination of those two, but it just sounds wrong.

I think you can use the notes from the sheet music, but you have to add delay on that sequence

From memory:

F2 - F2 - F1 - F2 - E2 - F1 - F2 - E2 - F1 - F1 - E2 - F2 - F1 - F1 - F2 - F1

'1' being the central chord on your keyboard. Add some pingpong delay and there ya go...

What I meant is, now I am sure the notes are correct, so I need to work on delay to get the same sound as in the original.

I know - but I did that from memory, so I wasn't sure. I just checked and confirmed those were the right notes.

I must say I am ready to give up. I've tried every single delay effect I have in my Korg TR and am not coming close to the original. I am actually trying to do a cover of Overture for China Concerts, which is the same sequence but slowed down.

I've also asked a guy who's done a very nice replica on You Tube which sounds accurate to me. He's recorded a slower version of what he is actually playing.

I am not sure this slower version has anything to do with the sheet music I have (not to mention the fact that he's using pitch bender as well). I must say I am very confused by all this cuz I only wanted to do a proper cover of a tune I really love. Also, at this point I am ready to admit my hearing is inferior.

Have you tried it using Reverb and Delay at the same time ?

Yup - tried all sorts of effects simultaneously (two at the time) as well as combining 2 sounds - it sounds good, but it doesn't sound like it is the same composition. In other words, when you're playing it by the notes, it sounds like a cover (remix)

Do you have a stereodelay in the TR. if you have... 60000:BPM=outcome of the delaytime.

60000:120=500.. set left to 250 and right to 500. this should get you started fischek.
