As a side point, if any of you have played Rainbox Six: Vegas, listen carefully in the Chinese themed restaurant / casino. You can hear some of the melody being played softly in the background.

Actually, no. Back then when CiC was released, I thought: "Wow... imagine that Jarre is capable of making such wonderful music in the Chinese people's own tradition".

Yes, it was a shock to me those many years ago as it is now to you.

You can't know everything
It's actually a traditional tune, and JMJ wrote the additional arrangements. Or either he had them written, I can't tell.
