Basically its a Keyboard controllor and very powerful at that,it has no onboard sounds,and is essentially a dummy keyboard,but it has a lot of facilities under the hood.with a Sequencer/2 motivators/arpeggiator/Gater.
it allows you to address 32 Midi channels over 2 Midi outs (Midi OUT A-16 Channels/Midi OUT B-16 channels
You can split the keyboard into Zones,and control any of the Midi channels(Both via Midi out A and B From the same Keyboard,which is quite an uncommon feature on many controllors and makes the Cyber very powerful indeed,having a large setup,you would never need to use external Hardware Midi routers,or thru units.
You can also Layer channels on the keybed so you can stack up sounds,or have an arp playing in one Zone whilst you stack a few other channels over another same Zone,it can use 8 zones and transpose +/- 3 otaves for each Zone and a neat feature with the Mod wheels is that you can use it to cross fade between sounds,you can alter the Mod wheel so,the control values Invert,so for instance you can morph between two seperate sounds,by having one timbre be faded out using the Invert selection to reverse the volume setting as you move the mod wheel up,so that it crossfades as you move the wheel up to the other Sounds zone,the volume is increased bringing the other sound in,this is quite a neat feature and I have been using it to great effect,and double it up with a Gater or Arpeggio pattern and you can create some Wavestation like Morphings,or Nice movements in pads
Theres also 3 realtime Knobs which allow you to assign any CC number for further realtime alterations
Anyone familiar with the Raven will know the power of the Motivators,the Raven only has One,whereas the Cyber has 2,you can assign the Motivator to any Midi channel,and have 2 different motivators playing independently in a split zone(Lower and upper)
It also has the same sequencer as the raven allowing for on the fly arrangements and real time transposition of parts(Like an auto accompianment on steriods)
You can store any of your programs(splits/Midi channel assignments/Layers Arp setting/Motivator settings)into the memory locations for instant recall,the Cyber has 128 memories each with the ability to be able to name them and store all of your given setups and Program changes/Knob assignments etc
Its Quite a powerful controllor and one of the few I have seen that allow the keybed to play independent Midi channels over the same keybed,I've only just scratched the Surface of it,(Due to the diobolical German to English Manual translation),but having been already using the Raven, for some time I'm pretty much learning to get round it without the manual,as it shares similar functions to the Raven.
The Cyber also has the same Metal case as the Raven except in Red,with the exact same shape/size and retro wooden end cheeks,Quite a Nice looking Keyboard and like the Raven,Built Like a tank!!!
