Hi Everyone,

I've decided to make it my quest to create the definitive online Jarre biography but, rather then rely on hazy facts and figures, I want to use the words of the man himself by collecting together scans of news/magazine interviews and audio of radio/tv interviews. I've got quite a collection together now but there are still plenty of gaps and I'm hoping you can help me fill these in?

When it goes online it's there to share!

I've gathered quite a lot from Rendez vous Blackpool, Big Nath's site and the Greek Jarre pages and I've got a few other bits. Due to my lack of a decent education I've got to restrict everything to English I'm afraid.

If anyone can help with good quality, biographical interviews/interviews about a certain album - I'd be most grateful!

There's a biography available from J.-L. Remilleux (available in English as well) which should cover quite a bit already (but only up to 1987). I only have the French version of this book...

I already have the English version of the Rimelleaux biography but, to be honest, I think some of the factual matter has been lost in translation. The biography gives away very little. I was hoping to use interviews etc to get to the heart of the subject matter.

What do you wanna know?

Well I want to go beyond the list format. I want to make it more rooted in history and want to try and get a bit of theory in about the music – why it sounds like it does.

For instance, I want the biography to set the Houston show in it’s historical context. Taking about the city and the ‘Texaco Heritage Plaza’ where Jarre rehearsed, and the costs involved etc. I want it to be as informative and as accurate as possible.

I’d love it to provide a solid argument for the reason why Jarre is such an important artist.

Well, go ahead.

Mine will be informative, not really digging deep, though, I will provide new facts and will write it more extensively then just a simple summary.

I am complete agreement. Making contact with JMJ and proposing your idea is the best option. He has never been an unapproachable man and the best source of information is always to come straight from the horses mouth.
But be aware of how private and guarded he may be about his life. I have always considered the reasons for Remilleaux's official biog being somewhat vague about issues other than those surrounding his career, are born more out of a desire for privacy than anything else. If you pay particular attention to the "Making the Steamroller Fly" documentary, you will see that the information given by the man himself is not dissimilar to that contained within the pages of the biography ten years previous.
I understand completely the fans desire to get to know every single aspect of their idol's life, But I have always been of the view that Jean Michel has given so much to us over the past thirty years...he owe's us nothing.
I wish you all the very best of luck with this endeavour, and you never know...you may be privy to some of the most amazing insights and events just by simply pursuing this boigraphy to it's fullest.

I know exactly what you mean...

AndI've always had great ideas about what I would want to get from Jean-Michel if I approached Aeroprod with a view to officialdom. But to get to that stage I was hoping to first compile as much factual info as possible - hence going for newspapers and magazine's... thing's Jarre has actually said in his life... multiple women for example, although he was of course talking about Chronologie...

I'll make a start and, if my rough first draft is structured enough, I'll put it on a website and give you the address to check it out...

It'll be some time though! !
