So I wanted to make this topic for all talk about the gear used for the album, so it won't disturb the non-gearfeaks

I can only start with the trance lead heard in Beautiful Agony, which I claim is a patch on the microkorg. Here is my short evidence:

It is very simple, but I still think it sounds so identical.

The next mystery is where those GATER pads came from. It sounds like a Super Saw, but the Virus has the similar Hyper Saw and it should be possible to make a Super Saw on the Andromeda aswell.

I can do that kind of sounds with my JP8000, so I think that's the SH201

All the "HOOVER" type sounds are off the Virus I'm 100% sure,its full of those sounds,making use of the Hypersaw its much more superior to that on the JP or SH and You can hear the differences straight away even with just ONE SAW ....If you heard it on the Virus you'd tell the textureright away in comparison to the JPs,and I suspect that the SH201 isnt as Phat as the JP neither

I'm not sure of the Andromeda,it should be capable of doing a detuned saw patch,using the Unison stacking all the Voices,Theres a preset called "Animocity" which is a similar type sound but nothing that is like the Sounds used on TT,once you flick through the Virus presets you can hear the patches right away and the characteristics of the Virus on the Album


its just finding the right ones in the presets that Jarre Used or Modified,in Teo and Tea theres one that glides down the Pitch,this is done on the Virus using the Oscillator Semitone function in realtime,All of these sounds on Teo and Tea have to be off the Virus,all the other instruments he used don't have those Hypersaws and the SH201 wouldn't come anywhere near it as its not got the ability to Detune up to 9 sawtooth waves per osc and you have to remember that the Virus is able to stack 3 osc effectivly,so nothing will be as phat that he's used on the album,(even the Moog wouldn't be able to match it)

The sound I was referring to is that typical trance pad. It is more or less hidden behind all those other noises. Listen to Nicos remixes, he pulled these pads in the front.

The thing with the Virus,is that although its essentially a Virtual Analog synth,because of the filters which are modelled on Moog filters,and the Oscillators tend to drift out of tune now and then(at first I thought it was faulty Voice chips seeing as its digital so you wouldn't expect it to be a little unstable),it sounds very Real in comparison to many of the past VA,Infact its one of the best VA I've ever laid my hands on

I knew of the Old Access Virus models but never bothered with them because they seemed to be just another VA around,that was full of Dance presets,whilst the TI does have its fair share,it also does very good emulations of other sounds,and some of the basses are very Moogy perhaps more so than any VA thanks to its filters and that in mind its gives the Andromeda a good fight,which says something about the TI

There are only a few VA synth with 3 osc capability,one of those being the Novation KS5,and on comparison sounds really flat to the Virus,I'm Glad that I've used most of the other VA as its given me an insite into exactly what a VA should be,and the Virus is the synth that all others should be judged by,nothing else is as good IMO,the only other VA I rate now is the JP8000 and the Z1

Before I forget it. Doesn't that "oh no" sound in BA come from the feedback osc. of the SH201?
