Hi !

I know I have already asked on the old forum, but I almost changed my mind.
I'm looking for headphones to use with two things :
- with my MP3 jukebox
- on my mixer when my mother says I'm making too much noise (always :mryellow: )

I'd like to spend 40-45€ on it and to only have something like that :

I can almost read everywhere that the AKG K240 is a good one, that's why I'm looking for one on eBay, the price is really low (25€) but it'll finish in one day

If you have an idea, please tell me

Don't know, but Sennheiser is my prefered brand.

They looks ugly :mryellow:
But I think you are right, they have a lot of headphones in this price category

Ain't the sound-quality the most important thing? Or is it to look cool to the girls?

The sound quality is the most important thing, for sure
But if the only difference between two headphones is the look, I choose the less ugly

That's why I prefer buying new stuff, you can just walk into the shop and pay.
Hope you'll find out where it is etc.

I have two headphones, one for studio use and one to use with my iPod. The studio one is a Beyer Dynamic DT990 and for my iPod I use a Sennheiser HD202. The latter comes highly recommended. A very good product for it's purpose and also the price is really fair. I would not recommend a Beyer Dynamic for your mp3 player, it's a bit expensive and.. uh.. bulky :mryellow: In that case you might as well walk around with a ghettoblaster

Indeed, the Beyer is quite expensive :mryellow:
But the HD202 has good and bad reviews on the website I look (http://fr.audiofanzine.com/produits/avi ... hd202.html)

Maybe I can add 10€ and have something a bit better, I'll see.
But I like that price, and it seems perfect to listen to music with it for hours !

Did you try it for a studio use ?

I always use that Sennheiser in studio. For less money enough quality! When you're a professional, then you may think about buying expensive headphones.

You speak about the HD202 ?

The HD650 is definately not ugly, but expensive

I use the DT990's in the studio very good bass response and ver ycomfortable to wear for long periods but you wouldn't be able to use them properly with an Ipod,becuase the drivers are 250 Ohms on the DT990 and you wouldn't get much volume out of the DT990 with an Ipod,because they're not designed to be Heaphone amplifier drivers,hence why the headphones that come with the Ipod don't have a large Ohm rating.

Many people don't consider the Ohm ratings when they buy Headphones,so in order to get the best Headphones for your device you need to take this into account,when puchasing...
That's why a lot of Pro headphones have different Ohm ratings,you can buy the same pair of Headphones but with different Ohm ratings dependant on your Equipment thats going to be driving it.

a lot of conventional Mixing equipment cannot efficiently run many Headphones atthe correct Operating Output because there amplifier circuits do not match the ratings of the Headphones,Hence why a pair of DT990's dont obtain Much volume from Ipods and the like)Just because an Item is expensive doesn't mean that you're getting better sound Quality.

Think of it like you would an AMP/Speaker watt ratings.....unless you have an amp that matches your speakers output,your not getting the Best perfromance out of the Speakers and too powerful and amp rating for your speakers,then at large volume they will damage the speakers

Whilst an Ipod won't knacker your Headphones up in the same way,but your not getting the best Sound perfromance and very little volume compared to a smaller rating H/Phone out of them unless you buy an equivilant Rating of ohms..

This is why certain H/Phones are designed for listening on traditional Hifi gear and others for reference in proper Musical Applications
