Hi everyone

I have just been listening to the Uk music charts on local radioand they have just anounced
changes to the way the charts are compiled. Downloaded music is now eligible to be counted as sales including songs that are NOT CURRENTLY ON RELEASE as long as they have had a previous record release, So how`s this for an idea, we pick a jarre song and get as many people as we can to download it from a uk web site and see if we can get jarre into the uk pop charts this may also help promote sales/interest in his forthcoming
album /singe as Aero Prod do not seem to be doing much promotion as yet.  [/u]

Hi Nico.

Yes it has to be a legal download from I-Tunes or a similar site.

Hi Nico
I do not know but I certainly hope so. Remember it only has to be a single track not a complete CD, and if it helps get Jean-Michel better known then why not.?

Yeah, why not, but we have to do it without knowing the result...

It applies to older releases too,so for instance we could bring Oxygene 4 back into the charts 30 years after it was released!! or any of Jarres singles back catalogue

But I'm not sure it would work in the way we would all like it !!!Essentially if we were going to re-ignite Jarre's work to help promote it to others who weren't sure of his work, then we'd all have to download those tracks in which case would mean paying for the tracks that we already have paid for in past CD purchases....

Personally it would be a Better idea for future releases, then it intrigues people who maybe haven't heard of him to want to download older tracks

I know I for one wouldn't want to pay to Download Jarres previous singles just to take it back up the Chart,as much as I'd like to bring Jarre into the forefront,I've already got the Discography!and I like many others would rather have an Official CD release in my collection than a virtual download on the computer or Ipod!

Jarre and other similar musicians tend to have an elite following rather than gain new Audience's all the time,Most fans of Jarre would have been following him for many years and tend to buy the new releases as soon as they come out ,so it pushes then in and out of charts far too quickly, personally I don't hink Jarre will ever be a huge chart act, even from Virtual charts sales not that he needs to be anyway, but for me Jarres tracks just don't suit your "3 min 40 second throwaway pop song format, and he has far more succes from album sales anyway..

If Jarre were to never release a "single" in the charts ever again, I doubt it would affect his promotional aspects or popularity

But at least this new system of chart sales could have a positive effect on his Legacy at least :D

Well said.

Most of the time when I tell people I listen to JMJ, they say "does he still do music, then?"... so it would make sense to get their attention to the new album, and then eventually they will become interested in his older work as well.. :)
