It seems strange that Jean Michael takes expensive and complicated musical mega-devices to make his masterpieces, while an ordinary guy from Russia who isn not a musician takes a 1$ - music card Ultra Sound Gravis (PCI SLOT! Computer IBM PC/IT 286!) and gives an alternative to the Souvenir of China.

Sorry, MP3 compression killed the sound. The originall WAV file has 120 Mb
S 120 MG. Ok, you don’t like the sound – this “midi file” as you called it. And what about the sea image, the sea idea in this version?
Can you give your own alternative of it, creative version?

I'm not talking about the quality of sounds. I'm talking about sounds themselves. You used the midi file and standard GM sounds from Your soundcard. I haven't made this cover yet but i can provide the other one, but wait 5 mins - i need to make upload

GJ is right... It's not hard to open midi file and using factoru soundcard GM presets make a mp3 dump. It's good that You're making some covers but... You need to work harder... Really harder

Congrats on the cover, keep working away; however, before you start asking if you can get the rights to reproduce JMJ's music... perhaps you should listen to a few of the covers on this forum. The quality level of covers on this board is quite startling. You might want to start w/Radek's covers. Great work IMHO Jote (not sure if he's still on this board), Gee Jee (Industrial Revolution), VinceBlood & JP Bouteille (just to name a few) have made some very memorable covers. As for myself, I'm just a hack but there are some VERY talented people around here. Stick around and you will learn a lot, I know I have!

I'll provide soon ALL good covers that I've recorded. Just need some time to put everything on ftp

To address the original point, I have a room full of great equipment and can make music but a freind of mine who only uses Reason makes traxs that sound much better than mine in my opinion. It's not just the gear, but "talent" that makes music. Knowing what you have and how to use it helps tremendously! He knows Reason like the back of his hand. I have barely scratched the surface of what my boards can do.

This forum has taught me a lot about sound synthesis, effects etc. and not relying on presets. Like I said before, stick around and you're sure to learn plenty.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh though - it's just not that easy. Perhaps if you used some topnotch VSTs and software effects (which would cost you eventually big bucks too) in combination with your PCI card, you may well be able to do it with just programming your own midi file.

I've always loved Revolution Industrielle 2, that cover was spot on! Just wondering how you went about programming the fast arpeggiated sequence lines in Pt 2? For heavily sequenced lines like that, what method do you use to program? Do you program each track by playing live (record@slow tempo and then speed up for playback) and loop in your sequencer or do you use some kind of step sequencer? I guess we're off topic at this point... Oops! Just curious

At the concerts i'm playing some things live... When I'm preparing the complete studio mixdown I'm using cubase sx almost for all tracks. and of course - i'm recording track by track then; to have better control for some EQ's sometimes some things are not perfectly quantized not all instruments in my room have midi [eq eminent elka and some other vintage stuff ]

i'm always preparing my own workfiles on cubase. in rev ind 2 i was "decrypting" [ ] arpeggio notations from songbook
