For a long time, I have been thinking about some words in the manual for the microkorg.

It says:

"Radios and televisions placed nearby may experience reception interferences. Operate this unit at a suitable distance from radios and televisions."

I have never seen this in any other manuals for electronic products. I just wonder what this actually means. My Microkorg has already been placed just a few centimetres next to my computer screen for a long time, without any problems.
What makes radios and televisions so dangorous? The signal from antennas?

ts unlikely the Microkorg would suffer any malfunction from radio or TV interference,it more likely the MK would stop the reception to your TV or Radio more than the other way round,Radio waves do not travel through walls(ie concrete brick etc)very well so it would more than likely be that the Microkorg would also interfere with that reception to the unit if its placed too near to a TV/Radio,although this depends on your TV/Radio devices Antenna


Most electrical Devices will have some sort of warning about it,most of my Korgs have it the manuals,Korg just include it as a precautionary.its not because its dangerous or harmful.if it was Korg wouldn't be able to sell such electrical devices.Don't worry it can't harm you..


My Old Behringer desk used to pick up Radio frequencies sometimes and i could hear the Police talking on there Radios,since i switched to Digital deks,never had a problem

I also have a TV/Radio in my studio,have never had any recpetion Problems with either and have never had any malfunctions of my Equipment because of them...

They always put this in manuals, I've never had any problems with my MK or any other equipment, apart from my crappy guitar amp finding strange radio signals if the volume was loud.

Yes I know but radiators are heatsources, which are also mentioned

I don't even have a real heathsource in my studio. I wanna keep it a little bit cold there. Mostly it's about 15 there.

Just like mine, and it is too damny cold to play properly, that's why I don't play since 2 weeks

Yep, and it's never been a problem, mainly because I don't have the radiator up high anyway.

I like it if it is a bit cold, unless not too cold.

I turn my eminent on and it suddenly gets warm. Not sure if that's supposed to happen though

I know that C64 Floppy drives aka 1541/1571 for example have strong problems with electromagnetical interferences from TVs, approx, 20 cm and they will start to click while loading. They have -not any- sort of shielding inside. Not to mention the amount of heat which they can produce, it is enough to bend 5 1/4" floppy disks when put them onto the top cover....

Me thinks that TVs and other Screens produce a very large amount of electrostatic interference when switching them off/on; that´s maybe why they should not being placed too near to a screen. Chips generally doesn´t like that sort of interference very much. Maybe bcoz of that they have a grounded shielding inside, less because of the own produced interference, more to safe the circuits inside.

Ah, that nice high beep that you hear when a TV is on.

The precautions also say that you should keep the products away from strong magnetic fields. On a computerscreen you can remove the static by some magnetic fields or what it is. I have seen this effect reach a screen just next to. I have used this antistatic effect on my own screen with the microkorg being next to, but nothing happened to it.
I think I read somwhere that TV's and so on can erase the memory amost like a magnet to a harddisc.
