Roland SH 201

The new roland has come !
It is an analog-modeling synth, and fell really simple to use and have a very good look !!!
I think we will see it with jarre soon.
He had use the SH101 in calypso, and this one seems better !!!!
arf, I buy it or not ????

I don't like new synths, too "numeric" for me, I prefer real analogs

I would prefer a SH1 or SH2 over a SH101, though...

I do like it mostly because of the Super Saw. It is lacking memory and people who have tried it says it doesn't sound very analog. I like it for being easy to control.
I don't think it more comparable to the old SH serie than other VAs.

I think it looks good. It probably sounds good as well. I think I'd prefer a JP8000 instead (ribbon, display with names, etc.)

I doubt JMJ will use it but you never know, he has started to use many weird synths.
I always wondered why he never used a Juno-6/60/106, I remember someone said that itprobably wasn't advanced enough.

Yes it was mentionned on the old forum. He prefered the Jupiter. Maybe he used a Juno on RendezVous for only 1 track but I'm not sure.

I want to try this, but I'm not expecting much more than what my microKorg can already give me. As Nico said, I'm also going into the DIY analog thing now and that seems to be the way for me. I'm also looking out for second hand SH-101s.

The microKORG seems to be a great machine, not very expensive. For sure, less attractive at a first view but I hope I'll test one one day
And hurray for DIY analog, real analogs are so expensive for us...

I still don't get it, alot musicians have used both the Junos and the Jupiters. The dutch producer Legowelt bought a Juno-106 then a Jupiter 8 and then a Juno-60 like many others, he can get different sounds from the Junos. I don't think that he had a Jupiter-8 was a reason not to get a Juno-60 or 106
