Mono yes, bass station no ... Ok some more clues in order to narrow it down somewhat:noyau wrote:Is it a mono synth ?
Novation Bass Station ?
A world famous band used one of it´s smallest brothers on their first album back in the early 80´s.
Hahaha ... it is getting warmer. All I will say for now.Arsen wrote:@ Jeremy - seems to be JD800 or similar PCM synth
@ synthx - I was thinking about Alesis Andromeda A6, but when you said about the amount of keys ('not many') - I changed my mind to any synth in Yamaha CS-01's size. I hope it's not difficult. I guess in an easy way, as you see...
Must 'mysterious' mean 'rare'? If yes, I'll change the way of searching for![]()

Congrats are for Mike, he found it before !!synthx wrote:Ok Close enough. It is the CS30.noyau wrote:Yamaha CS5 ?

I have nothing against VSTs. i have literally hundreds of them, but i also use my (used) hardware synths as much as possible, because they sound more "real" and imperfect.JPQ wrote:This digital synth comment is not whole truth both have own places. i like hardware but i dont have room for hardware and money for hardware. and prices are there where i live higher i think. you mean sound thing in arturia they dont sound real? this thing is what i hate and i cannot understand how JMJ says Minimoog V is best Minimoog emulation (if remember correctly marketing text in their homepage) when many people which like moog more uses other emualtions. and i today found how huge differencies are in saw samples in my juno-g. and makes even more diffenries when i add filter. and still arturia stuff have nice sounds but not good analog emulation. to me these are not suitable at all high sounds when i must use others... i try mix best of both worlds.hshs wrote:I have nothing against VSTs. i have literally hundreds of them, but i also use my (used) hardware synths as much as possible, because they sound more "real" and imperfect.JPQ wrote:This digital synth comment is not whole truth both have own places. i like hardware but i dont have room for hardware and money for hardware. and prices are there where i live higher i think. What i am against is HYPED products like most of what Arturia makes.. they are garbage and the whole idea that they actually sound like the real thing..
If you want to hear some really good sounding virtual old school analog VSTs, check out XILS labs, their XILS 3 synth is amazing.
I also spent over a year creating a really good sounding analog synth in Reaktor with hundreds of real analog oscillator samples.
Yes, I think it is better to have these 3 points.Pete wrote:This game is intriguing, but some rules are needed - i think.
what do you think of that:
- at least 3 sounds from the synth, or a long evolving one that may suggest the type of synthesis involved.
- specify if it's hardware or software (analog, hybrid, virtual or digital NOT specified; make it interesting in spotting the real vs virtual nuances)
- record sounds from the synths we have under our hands. It's more fun for us than recycling something from the net; sometimes the demo excerpt from the net are very lo-fi and who can be really sure of who is playing what?
- One game at once...
