Yeah, but the tracklist states is a demo version, which means it's a recording of the track long before it was finalized.

Oh, that'll be interesting. The other Rendez-Vous are credited as being from 1986.

It was, there's enough evidence of that. But chances are that all tracks were recorded seperately (with a different mix) before being finalised for the final master. Chances are that it's that recording, but we'll know for sure in a few months.

I keep hearing that it was the master plates that were destroyed, not the tapes.

According to SME there are no live versions on the compilation. Could be simply a mistake. Track time is 2:18 - consistent with the studio version.

One more thing peculiar about that "Rendez-Vous II (part 4)" track. It is also listed as "Rendez-Vous II (Laser Harp)". And the length seems to confirm that it is indeed the laser harp part, but then it is named incorrectly, as this part is actually part 3.

I never liked those official "Ethnicolor I Part 2" or "Rendez-Vous II Part 3" divisions... but I guess they were still better than some of the bootleg tracklistings - for example there was one of PLD where the ping pong ball sounds from the beginning of Souvenir of China were marked as "Magnetic Fields 1" (thanks to the CiC album tracklisting) and the intro to Magnetic Fields 2 (with the Laurie Anderson vocals in the VHS version) marked as "Diva" etc.

Anyhow, as soon as some samples of those "retouched" tracks become available, thus letting me know if they're remakes or just "the old tracks except with some new VCS 3 effects put in", I'll probably pre-order the regular CD edition (cheapest seems to go for ~23 € 'round here). Can't say the promotion for this set has even been that extant yet.

We'll wait for the track stories then, maybe we'll learn things we don't now yet on how JMJ got some of the ideas involved in the originals' composing.

I'm looking forward to that. I love these things.

Still really unsure why they went with the cassettes, but I will say that's a good looking package.

What's there to be unsure about? It's simple. It's a retro gimmick/souvenir, because this is an anniversary compilation.

Well, that's it. The production values remain the same as with the preceding releases (e.g. Original Album classics). Shame :p

That's nothing compared to Electronica 1 CD track listing, which shows track durations from the vinyl edition.
