About MC 808

I don't know for sure if the MC 808 has the preset used on Teo & Tea. There is a video on Youtube, but it is showing only pictures but not a person using these patterns. There is a possibility to be true and also a fake. In case of these patters are true, follows my opinion about :

1. I guess the patterns were built to be used anyway. You can compose a music and use these sounds in your music. The only thing I don't agree in terms of pattern usage is the fact of music is much more the pattern than new melody. The patterns should be used to create an atmosphere and not to be the main melody or message.


2. It is possible that Jarre colaborated to these patterns ... (in case of these patterns really exists) ...

3. I am an inconditional fan of synthesizers. I guess when you are using groovebox it is the same thing as collage (in art). So it continues be an art but using different pieces or parts of another art.

I prefer in arts the oil paintings ... where the artist creates everything from the conception to entire art.

Glenn, great post, and when you sit back and think about it, it all starts to become clear.

Jarre in the past has been known to have his name put to tools he has used. Take for example the Kurzweil K2000. I remember seeing in a music magazine and advertisment for both Jarre (Images album) and the K2000 saying that this synth is Jarres recomended choice. So what other tools has Jarre used in the past that has had the same treatment as the K2000. We have seen the short vids released earlier this year of Jarre in his studio testing/talking about the SH-201 and MC-808.

Lookiong at it now, I feel Jarre and Tim made these patterns for Roland prior to the T&T album and that the T&T album is a fine example of a selling tool for them. Afterall, Jarre must know that people will go out on a whim and buy synths he has used in the past to get "that" Jarre sound. What a perfect time to do just that in the form of two new synths from Roland.

Jarre says in the Teo & Tea video (3'58"): "With Teo & Tea I was real priviledged to work with prototypes (i.e. new instruments/gear) that some companies gave me and..."

Hmmm...could it be the answer people are looking for...?

If you think #1 in that list should be this: "The sounds and patterns on T&T and in the Groovebox are the same" then you ASSUME that the Groovebox came first, the album later. And as Etienne would say, assumptions is the mother of all f*ckups.

I happen to know a few facts I can't share here...

All I can say is that this assumption about the groovebox coming first is a very accurate one according to my sources... (and that is all I will ever say about it)

The truth should be known no matter how painful. I don't want to think the worst so I'll enjoy Teo & Tea but I feel like it's the end of my innocence, hahaha...oh wait isn't that a song...

Facts are to be shared!

I guess we all rather saw the real statement as "JMJ and Tim made created the patterns for MC-808 used in T&T" but one of the sounds posted by Pete had a "made by" name with it. I don't remember the name, but it was one of the (other than Tim) who were listed among the patterncreators.
