Yes Id rather buy one at the normal price. At such low prices you don't know whether their is a dead body inside, or the seller just need to get rid of it quickly for other weird reasons than earn anything on it.

I've bought some real battered gear over the years,done them up and made a healthy profit...which has allowed me to kit out my studio with Synths I have now..

But selling on certain hardware today is becoming increasingly difficult,due to falling prices of some stuff,since the upsurge in software but certain synths that are cult items like the D50 etc(even though they sold plenty of units)are very popular if you can find the right buyer...


I bought an M1 last year for £50 needed around £35 of repairs doing to it,I bought the spares brought it back to life and sold it to a collector guy who paid me £350 for it.a nice £265 profit!!!I also made £150 profit on a Wavestation,that all i did was change the LCD screen and clean it up

when you buy a cheap synth to do up,its best to get it as cheap as poss,(also make sure you can get any spares first too)and then once you've done it up,don't sell to the first buyer,because someone will always be searching for that synth who will be prepared to pay over the odds for such ,its a matter of waiting for the right time.I've had to wait to sell some synths but it has always worked out better by waiting,of course i don't always make massive amounts on everything,but I make sure that I'm certainly not out of pocket and won't ever sell at a loss,if your losing out,its better to not sell it at all,because if you hold on you can make better profit..and always buy something that should you never get a buyer for it, it will be beneficial for your own use..

Although i bought my D50 for £50 i have no intention of selling it even though I would make a little profit on it on todays prices,its a gem in any synth armoury

I like to buy some lightly damaged synths which I can repair. But real dead synths I don't buy.
