The new Limted Edition MK

yes it's quite nice if they had just given the whole synth a new colour change.

So does it sound better or is it just a metamorphose on the outside.

Speaking of the MicroKORG, I was planning to try and programm the laserharp sound on my MicroKORG during the Christmas holiday. But before I try it is it even possible to do it??

If you have a ring mod and env to pitch routing available it should be possible to get a similar sound as it's a VA synth after all. But you won't get it to roar as much as the synthex would...

That was exactly what I thought. I do have a ring mod. I'll just try it and look how close I can get.

To make a good Laser Harp sound you need to detune the 2 Osc(Off the top of my head I think Triangle and sawtooth waves are used,or it maybe tri/Sq) At least an octave apart and lash them back into sync with sync modulation with a little glide to the pitch of one of the Osc so it falls back into tune with the other osc gradually,if you listen to the Synthex patch it sort of Bends the sound of one osc before it syncs thats the make up of the Laser Harp sound along with loads of detuning and chorus to exaggerate the pitch glide.

I've made a pretty convincing Laser Harp patch on my Virus.

That makes sense.
Ring mod won't make that harsh gritty sound, it'll just make something ugly.

Nah more like a last ditch Gimmick attempt to shift the remainder MK components,its what they did with the "275" Variation Models on the Triton Line.All the bloody same they just had to try and shift the stock components after the unprecedented success of the Classic

I had forgotten they were stopping production of these.

The same Happened with the Triton classic/Studio,they sold Like Hotcakes,Korg couldn't keep up with the Demand all of a sudden,they stockpiled components and when the Rush died off when everyman and his dog Owned either a classic or Studio version they were left with a whole warehouse full of circuit boards,Cue the More affordable LE/TR/Rack/X50/Micro X Flavours

Given the Huge Popularity of the MK since its release because of its affordable price,I dare say the Same has happened again,except that to remodel it in a MK2 casing it would cost far too much money,so by giving it a semi facelift it may regain interest as a "Ltd Edition" and help to shift those excess Components.

But that's what the original patch of P. Wiffen is called: "Ring Mod"

Also, there is something about the Synthex RM, I don't recall from the top of my head, but it has something that other synths don't have...
