Already seen them. Still stand by what I said. No wind, that was the guy behind me with his very heavy breathing. Almost knocked me over 4 times during the concert with that breath.
He was bouncing around alot while playing the Laser harp, which, if you look after medium to long hair and don't weigh it down with rubbish, useless styling products, causes it to move. If you saw any photos of me at the same point, my hair would be doing similar.

I think that the real star for that evening was Jérôme Gueguen.
His incredible solos saved most of the day imho.

Those 'pollution free' fireworks certainly did look rather good.

IMHO he ruined a couple of tracks Well, with or without Jérôme Gueguen´solos on MF2, it´s still a track of the past. IMHO it sounds a bit stupid today in 2011, it´s sounds like a party in a kindergarden, not really cool. I LOVE the album version, and PLD version too, but it´s also 20 years ago now Today those songs sounds a bit cheesy... IMHO A far too big part of the concert sounded like something from the 80´s or earlier IMHO But that´s how Jarre want it, and then you can chose to accept it or not I can accept it, no problem, I´m not lying awake at night over it Haha I just think it´s kind of a wasted chance of doing a 100% full blown hi-tec show, both visually and musically wise. Again a matter of taste, but what I see and hear is a 2011 visually stunning hi-tec show combined with music from the "past". And IMHO those two things don´t go well together anymore
He needs (if he wants to) to come up with something "new", or just new Jarre music. And he´s more than welcome to use all those analog synths! There´s a million ways to use them, and they sound great! A combination of new and old, just not a record that points more backwards than forwards.. Again a matter of opinion I guess

BUT..... a great, no stunning visually show!! Really really loved the visually side of it!!


PS: I´m not angry or bitter or anything else, it should be clear from the above, unless this is read by an hardcore fan BUT... Jarre is not as respected all-round today as he once WERE.. Why?? Well, today I keep hearing comments like "Is he STILL playing all those songs from the 70´s!!?" You know, comments like that. And who can blame them? Every time Jarre shows up on their tv/concert they hear Oxygene 4 and stuff "like that". But again, this is what Jarre choses to present to the outside world, even still today in 2011 when everyone else is moving "forward", or at least trying to do so.
If you ask me, it´s a dangerous road, and if he continues to do these "greatest hits" shows, then he´s kind of asking for it.. I guess..

But does all this really matter for a true Jarre fan?? I guess it depends on who you ask

I agree with your assessment. As I was watching the show I felt kind of "sorry" for JMJ because here is this incredible visual tour-de force, and then "old fashioned" Oxygene 2 starts playing. I would have preferred the updated version from the Aero album. Personally I think music from Metamorphoses would have fit the modern visual concept.

I wouldn't have minded Natasha Atlas getting up on stage to sing a new version of C'est la Vie; the crowd would have definitely danced to it; and it's an emotive song too.
Bells, Hey Gagarin and Light My Sky would have worked wonders. I would have dropped the "chaotic" Variation 3 and played an emotional Millions of Stars..

What else? Vintage was the best track he played as it was the most modern: the crowd loved it. It would have been cool of him to dedicate Geometry of Love to the newly weds too. How about Neimo getting up on stage with Jarre to perform the rock remix of Aerology? That's a hot track! Maybe one of the remixed Oxygene 8 and 10 tracks from Odyssey Through o2? Very danceable and Jarre loves playing the "DJ".

Those are just personal thoughts but I believe the audience would have appreciated more up-tempo modern tracks like Vintage; and they would have fit the hi-tech visuals better and allow for a more fun "party" atmosphere.

So, he's got modern tracks; he just didn't use them. (during '97 Oxy Tour he updated a lot of his older tracks with a "techno" touch)

There are Jarre fans on this forum who will claim I'm being overly critical of our favorite musician. Fine; but remember that the opposite is being overly UNcritical.

Sometimes saved, sometimes not...all together he is great, but at time his solos get too much. A little bit.
