There must have been a reason as to why Jarre carried the speech out in English as apossed to French. A speech being in English has nothing to do with how the track itself is excepted by the crowd. Which from the audio I heard, was good. But he has been playing it now for 30+ years.

Robi, I was there. There was no wind, not even a gentle breeze. I would have killed for even the slightest whiff of a breeze. As I say, maybe my memory is terrible, but the weather is one thing I do generally remember correctly.
You only need room temperature to disperse that sort of smoke, so the 28/29 degrees that was in Monaco was more than enough to kill it off before it went very far. I was watching them trying to use it before the concert and it was only going a few feet and then it was completely gone. It was going where they wanted, but just not lasting, killed off by the heat.
But stage was some metres above the audience!

The more you are above of something, the more wind you experience...
Anyway, smoke used for laser just flew and flew away during RV 2 and 3.....tell me the transmission was bad.
Or it is up to technique issue.
Actually, it wasn't that far above me. There was no wind up above the height of the stage, unless you want to tell me that the roof of the Fairmont, or that the approach from the tunnel down to the port isn't that high?

Coming down from the end of the tunnel I was actually above the stage height and walking back that way after the concert there was no wind.
No, it wasn't a technical problem, simply the heat. We deal with Cardice (dry ice) on a daily basis. You only need to put in under a cold tap to get rid of it and given that the lab is a constant temperature, the resulting smoke very rarely leaves the sink the cardice is in. They are using a blower so the smoke goes a little further, but, because of the heat, it doesn't go much further than a few feet before it is completely dissolved.

I must admit that I too thought there was no wind from the footage by the way the smoke form the fireworks just lingered there for some time afterwards. Wind would have disspersed it quicker if it had had of been there.

Here is what I think what happened, the issues of RV3 and Rv2 were different.
(I do have the laserharp myself and so have some experience)
In RV3 there was not enough 'smoke' (might temp or wind) so he touched an extra beam every now and then because of bad vision of the beams.
In RV2 however, someone moved the smoke machine right next to the laserharp, where it blew all the smoke directly into the light sensor which made all the beams to reflect the light which causes the sensor to play unwanted notes.
Just my thoughts,

I just received the HD recording of my sis boyfriend, and it's directly recorded from Euronews channel at 720P, there is no Newsbreak during the Oxygene 5 trilogie so no complains there. The audio is way better then the online broadcast and the video is somewhat compressed (musqito noise and compression artifacts), but chances are this is due to the nature of HD broadcasting rather then compression.
The real downsides (for me though) are the same as during the regular TV broadcast, the Euronews Logo is the entire time on screen, aswell as the "Jean Michel Jarre in Monaco" sign under in the screen with the photo of the newly wed, which wasn't pressent on the online stream. But my biggest complain is that the recording starts halfway during the countdown at 4, unlike the online which started a good 16 minuts before the actual concert, and it stops emediatly after the credits have stopped rolling...
I'll soon be paying my fair share to the Database and will upload the video then

Damn you... I also want one
Also I rewatched the Laserharp parts, but Jarre in didn't hit double note's during THird Rendez-Vous, he did hit a couple of wrong note's, but no double. So most likely that the trigger mechanic failed on him during that one. During Second Rendez-Vous it seems that there was both the problem of the smoke, but looking closely the trigger mechanic failed a couple of times also when he did strike it and it wasn't being triggered (most likely once again by the smoke's tickness causing another note to be triggered). But the problems mostly seemed to have stopped at the end when the smoke was gone...
So yeah... Jarre can't play what he can't see, but the smoke isn't his best friend if he does want to see it clearly...

Well shit happens

But now something completely different.
I dont hear (enough) people about those strange extra sounds in the tv/radio recordings...
What the f*ck was that director thinking???
That Jean Michel is a lousy composer and that his music needed some extra sound?
That Jean Michel is maybe a good composer but a lousy performer, so added some extra sounds?
Adding those extra irritating noises is like adding some latex paint to the Mona Lisa, because the suppost thinks that the original is a bit dark.
This is ruining the work of the master.
For me it feels like Blasphemy.
I suppose JM didn't know on before hand?
And I suppose he will cancel the contract with Euronews immediately, or make clear that they should never do that again...
Please share your thoughts.

I have to agree that the added audience is awefully annoying, during Vintage the audience really seems to have gone nuts judging from the hands near the stage. But other then that it really annoys me that most of the clapping and screaming is clearly a loop played over and over and over...
If I was Jarre, I would have walked to the studio after the concerts and smacked the director to the floor, damn relistening the concert it really annoys me (although not on the Mansfield level)
BTW just rewachted the Chronologie 2 but... The Fireworks have awesome choreography

Well extra audience sounds at the end of a song I could understand from a tv/radio perspective, but then why not hanging a microphone above the fans.
Worst of all are those artificial claps from the clapmachine.

As they already did that at Merzouga, too, I'm pretty sure it was a direct order by Jarre himself or at least more or less approved by him.
I don't want to justify it, but the idea behind that probably is to compete with taped or live broadcast rock concerts, where the crowds are usually more cheerful and in fact always cheer in some way even during announcements. Jarre probably wants to compete with that, but knows that his crowd is rather quite and - as someone else said - rather a jar-dropping crowd.
Personally, I would have prefered to just drop the false audience noise. But if ones mixes it in, one should do it in such a way, that it doesn't get noticed. So the repeated clapping was rather an example of how not to do it.

As far as I could judge from the TV broadcast, they also mixed real noise in (same technique at Merzouga BTW), so the false audience noise is rather an enhancement, not the only noise to be heard.

Surely the crowd noise is based on where the microphones are placed around the front of the stage area. The live mix wasn't that good. Just listen too Chrono 4 with the main lead lost within the mix. Once recorded, such as crowd noise, it's toned down and used when needed in future releases of that recording.
