here's an idea..

there's one place that JMJ would surley be guarantee big album sales should he decide to create the next one.

This idea would satisfy both the people who would like a new album AND the ongoing concerts.

The average show last 2hrs or so, JMJ could fit in about 40 minutes of new material in to that.

Then announce that you could buy the CD featuring this new material along side the other merchandise on offer.

If you are going to pay £20 for a programme, or £8 for a keyring, SURELY JMJ would make a killing selling a new album that way round??

that's my two pennies worth.

. . . . or join in with having that live show 'that very night' burnt onto CD for those wanting it. 'Livenation' do this and sell huge amounts of the CDs.

That's what Jon understood. I don't see the point of this comment. The reasons for people writing here are different for everybody. Also, there's more subjects than just a new album.

Jarre is just doing his own thing. I think he's doing a backwards carreer thingy: after Metamorphoses he started writing music for TV and movies again, doing experimental stuff and background music for clubs and companies (GoL and Interior Music). Metamorphoses was in a sense a goodbye album, the end of an era. Now he's just enjoying things he likes to do. Frederic Rousseau once told an interviewer JMJ couldn't do other music because the fans don't expect him to. But now JMJ is doing that exact thing.

And it's not just JMJ but also Vangelis and Mike Oldfield who don't release much new music nowadays. Too bad, but such is life.

I've had this idea for a couple of years and I dont understand why JMJ is not doing it, as he is reaching tons of people with his tours. A new CD would be the most wanted merch at every arena. Self-release it and sell it for 15 euros, it would make him a fortune, probably more than signing a normal record contract with a major label. I just dont get why he doesnt do it.

Maybe, if he does this he would ruin his chances of getting a recording contract. Maybe he is prepping his fanbase with tours and will massively sell a new album in 2012. Maybe he is just slowing down with age and preserve energy for one project at a time (he doesnt seem to be physically unfit but ones priorities change with age).

Some artists appear and then to be forgotten when they become passive. JMJ is not one of them, however he seems to always have some kind of projects anyway. Just look at how people still discuss concerts that are over 20 years old. He is some kind of a living music legend, and they are rarely forgotten just because they become passive.

Honestly charts have nothing to do with the music of Jarre. Purely sales. Casual listeners are not picking this up. What was the old man thinking? Making this an actual Rarities CD would have helped sales. How do you call it rarities when two of the tracks you were already released on the Les Granges Brulees CD and two more are remixes by someone else?!?
Hell, My Rarities CD 1 & 2 & 3 are better than this release. At least the volume isn't cranked up!

Gotta agree on that one, however the first Rarities sucked in the Quality part... I'd still perfer the Offical loud release over the noisy and flat sounding as hell unofficial version... But then again, I dig those awfull recordings...

It really depends on the mood i'd say
