Bad news...

I read today that the man in one of Polish hospitals died because of lack of qualified anaeesthetists...there're just three of them now in the hospital - one in conflict with director, one who had worked just in ambulances and one during practice - all the rest resigned because of too small payment. Which is totally undesterdable as according to the informations it's more worthwhile for them even to fly to England for weekends and work there just for these two days than to stay here. Or take Czech - they can earn about 100-150% more when moving there...
That's totally ill situation now, most of the medicine students plan already to go abroad...these doctors who work now are also fed up with the conditions.

Understandable, however, just those people should care more about human lives than money, in my opinion. What's your money -earned in UK- worth if you could have saved so much more lives in your home country? I would not be able to live with that...

The situation is more complicated than you seem to think.

At first - in Poland even teachers, who are said to be paid much too little, earn more than doctors.
That leads to the situation when you and your wife/husband both work as doctors (honest ones - as there's a big curruption and there're people who get money in this way) and don't work extra in privite hospitals - just imagine... And when you have children - well, talking about human lives sound great, but not if you must think every month if you'll have enough money to feed your own kids.

Secondly - what you wrote about is exactly the point of the problem. As people working in other job can say "we're protesting, no rise - no work", put transparets and do a mess. But not doctors...as they can't just say: "we're not curing people until government promise us higher salary", because it'll be automatically used by politicians "Look these horrible doctors don't care about people's lives, bla bla bla...".
In fact they have no way to protest. All they can do is...leave.

And it's a problem which was growing from few years. There were promises and...nothing. What is happening now will be a shock-therapy for the government, as if they don't do something constructive, Poles will wake up one day and see hospitals with no doctors.

Of course these Poles, who will stay in this crazy reality...
