I felt just the same, then LOTR was finally adapted for the box offices, but I still enjoy reading the books and watching the movies.

A wonderful Norweigian movie with some undertones of Blair Witch Project, District 9 or Godzilla. Half serious half comic. :)
However the quality declines towards the end where the visuals becomes out of proportions imho.
