BMG Rights Management, works with two majors: Sony Music and UNIVERSAL MUSIC (ex-Polygram/Polydor).

I personally am fed up with all these re-releases, re-issues and remastered versions of existing albums. As I understand these are not adding much to the originals. I don't need them. The albums I have are fine and are how they came out at the time and were meant to be. No need for changing them.
I also can't handle another compilation or box. And unless the tracks are really unreleased and not already in possession of every fan, I also can do without another Rarities album.
Just come with a new album and if it takes long, so be it. He has deserved the right to take as long as he wants. But all this re-issueing is just a way to have fans spend more money on stuff they don't need. It is mainly the old record companies that do this, but JMJ has also approved a lot himself.

All this very things happenning with Mike Oldfield anyway.
Five Miles Out and Crises just came out as reissues and he is making the brand new album.
I personally don't mind buying the reissues, at all, I'm just looking forward to have the new materials from both musicians.

I nice big boxset of his albums, possibly 'special editions' or an extra album of previously unreleased mixes or studios out-takes/rarities would be most welcomed. But I sense what BMG have in store are original releases.
Regarding the proposed new studio album, its a long time coming, so lets hope it is worth the wait and that Jean Michel has found his mojo. Something new yet old fashioned would be epic.

Don't even get me started on those remasters and all subsequental released album mastering... I went out of my way to purchase all original CD's after buying a bunch, and went even further out of my way to get the vinyl of Oxygene 7-13 and recorded that one to my PC. These re-releases have nothing to do with the upcoming album, Oldfield has been rereleasing his albums since 2009 the year after he got all the rights back from Virgin after 35 years. He has been remixing the albums (Incantations only the demos since mastertapes are apparently to far degraded or lost, and Platinum/QE2 which were lazily only remastered) to 5.1 surround. Let me assure you that those 5.1 remixes are totally worth the repurchase of those albums: Hergest Ridge finally has something to offer besides boredom, Ommadawn sound very fresh, Five Miles Out goes all over the place and Crises is pure heaven in surroundsound! He has stated that he is infact working on something new, and I believe in one interview we did get a short sample of unheard music of Jarre. I just want a rarities collection that actually contains actual rare stuff (and without the shitty remastering), not stuff that we heard a million times before on compilations, incidently, also called Rarities 20 years earlier.

I think it's safe to say we will not be getting any new studio album from Jarre anytime soon. Doesn't matter how many times and how many people vent frustration on boards, its not going to bring new work forward. He is either too busy on other projects or gradually going into retirement.
