Michel Geiss?? He wasn't involved in Oxygene 7-13 at all

I wasn't aware of that the 2500 has been used for any albums either.

Yes I wasn't aware of that before I saw it on Jarrography but the 2500 wasn't listed under neither JMJ nor MG on any of the tracks in the official album sleeve

I know that isn't a clear proof, but then that information must be from an intern talk with MG or something

We had that discussion before... he is just credited, not as directly involved as on the other albums

He wouldn't be credited if he wasn't involved at all like you stated.
That would be much like... JMJ crediting Hillary Clinton in the T&T booklet

It could have been as simple as lending an ARP 2600 to JMJ or some old inspiration or patchscematics originally made for the original Oxygene album, who knows? If he was a programmer or what we typically know about JMJ's collabration with Geiss, I'd say he would have been credited for it. Anyway let's keep on the geartalk instead of persontalk

Well... I think that M.Geiss was credited because he helped with synth-repairings

There was an online interview with Geiss on the Old Jarre.net site, when he was part of the "Musicrun"site, I remember it well as Geiss talked about his lack of involvement with Jarre since 97,playing down any speculation of a falling out between them and,he also talked about his last dealings with Jarre around the time of the album in that he was approached by Jarre for some advice on the instruments,he also helped him maintain some of the gear he'd modified as well as some advice about using them for a tour.

The brassy character may fit the nature of the Oberheim SEM (and its derived models)
The Oberheim 2 pole filter has the characteristic of not loosing level (volume) as you increase the resonance.

Open up Arturia's ARP2600V and use the preset on a midi seq.
If you haven't got it, go to Arturia's website and download the demo version.

Orient Express was presumely live during CiC.
Edit: I just checked out the video. It seems like frederic Rousseau was playing Perrier's P5 while Jarre was jaming on the Microsynth and Perrier on the Liberation.

Hm, I'm not sure what is that suppose to prove, since ARP2600V is not a really good
copy of ARP2600 (while the saw wave is realistic, the filter isn't really a good representation of a real one)
Of course I don't have either of these instruments, but a review on "sound on sound" had a really technical comparison between the two

You get filter discrepancies between the same analog Synthesizers of the same make and model in hardware form.Just because they use the same circuitry and filter type doesn't mean they all sound identical.
A software clone some 30 years later is gonna sound different to an Analog equivilant there makeup up is totally different before you even compare the two
An oscillator is easier to model, whereas a filter isn't especially if your cloning a hardware filter in software, the 24db Filters invented by Moog will tell you that,if it was easy to replicate a filter the same everytime all the hardware synths that ever featured a 24db Low pass filter would have sounded the same as the Minimoogs, they can clone the oscillators, but its the Filter which gives a synth its characteristics, yet they never have got a 100%Clone of a Minimoog on any synth thats been made, thats how you would tell the difference blindfolded,on a Filter texture..My 4 year old son could of told you that. How do you expect a Software ARP2600 one to sound the same as the Hardware ??
And if you've never experienced the difference in real life how can you make a judgement based on some review??on that judgement the reviewer would need to compare every model of Hardware ARP2600 against the Software for a real conclusion, and simply a Software clone will reproduce the same filter fluctuations and drift again and again whereas the Hardware wouldn't be so precise.

With that in mind any synth sounds like any other synth and non of them have character.
I'm not sure I want to go that far.
If anything, your point is simply reinforcing my point that recreating a sound doesn't prove anything. With what you said, how can recreating a sound on one ARP (real one) suggest anything about the other ARP, if as you suggest, an ARP can sound as much different from other ARP as an oberheim would from an ARP or any other synth.
