I'm just talking about the stereo mix here.
Metamorphoses sold 2,6 million copies according to Record Collector, so I wont say it's a flop. Just a little less than the average Jarre sales. And we dont know for sure if he got dumped by Sony - the thing I remember from those days is that Jarre dumped Sony because they didnt do enough promotion.Antigoon wrote: After many years with Polydor international he changed to sony,... the first release was something commercial, oxygene 7-13 to be exact... But again, we dont know if he dumped them or the other way around. I have not seen sales figures for T&T but we can assume they are low, but nevertheless, who dumped who is speculation. Warner released 3 albums (GoL, Aero, T&T) and two successfull DVDs by Jarre; maybe the contract was for 5 releases, then supposed to end. Many recording contracts are limited in scope like that.
Compilations and live albums usually sell much less than original albums, so wether Oxygene 3D will be a cashcow remains to be seen. Probably not - the costs are quite high on this one (shooting, editing, production, etc). He is on a small label already; Aero Prod. They licence stuff to EMI (or Warner in the past, and like Drefus did to Polydor and Sony). I think being on AP (which is not just a management firm) enables him to switch distributors.
