They were hooby-joobing in da studio, she suddenly sat on the MC808, the pattern began to play and the micros were not off, and you can now hear the result

On the Roland site, there is a link to the page featuring the profiles of those who created the patterns for the MC-808. Jarre is not there, but Tim is (very bottom)

That was actually recorded for the occasion. The singer is credited.
AFAIK, this is only true on the re-recorded version he did in 1990. On the orginal version from 1988, Xavier Bellenger is credited for providing the chant sample.

The vocals were done by Duke Bakewell.

I think sampling is ok as long as you 1) aknowledge that you've sampled and credit the original artist and 2) put it in to completely different context and do something creative with it.

I think it's my second point there Jarre didn't succeed this time around, even if I enjoy listening to T&T while working.

An example where Jarre took samples from another recording and did something creative with it, is the original Arab chant on Revolutions. On T & T it seems like Jarre only pressed play and noodled a bit on top. The result sounds cool, imo, but it's not very creative and I expect something better than that from Jarre, however unfair that is of me.

Using a Loop from an Akai sample Library is not "Taking" a sample from someone elses work,there not subject to copyright law in the same way a sample taken fro msomeones recording(unless the sampler Library states otherwise)the Loop your referring to used by both S2S and Enigma is off the loop construction Kit library that was produced for the Akai S950 Sampler series,in retrospect,Enigma always credit where there samples are sourced from in the sleeve notes so if they had of sampled S2S,which they didn't it would be listed after Clearance was granted,this is part of the agreement of a clearance Contract,whether is lists the Composer or the source direct from where its taken.
There are loads of Loops Enigma used on various Albums which have been in Akai Sample Libraries,theres also one they used ,which was also used by Depeche Mode on "Get Right With Me"...

So, there was a sweede guy there? "tweeky" Ahlund. Sounds much like "Ã…hlund" wich is a swedish name...or danish.

Not very strange then I have such a hard time with this T&T album.

But still...Vintage is one of the best tracks I've ever heard, nothing will take that away from me
and Ok,DoItFast has a cool, funky rythm.

Anybody here who has heard the new sophie ellis baxtor single called "Catch you" ?

It kinda reminds me of some french dude's track from his new album....

I guess there is more to come like this...

I have to say I quite like it

. But the drums don't sound very 808-ish. There are some parts that have some similarities with Fresh News indeed, but not that much.

(were going off the beaten track a bit here, back to the 808 me thinks)

I may pop into the city next week and see if I can find a demo of the 808 and see what it's like.
