That could be just simply bad contacts in the big switch you have to push to get the effect on or the elco used to discharge when you press a key and causing the curve for the 'pluck' (soldered on the time fader) is bad or even the fader itselve can be the problem.... or maybe a loose or bad contact in that line...

How to tune Eminent? I'm asking because JMJ's Eminent is tuned a bit up. I can hear it clearly when i'm playing on my eminent [oxy 6, oxy 13]

Yeah, mine is tuned fine. I do know JMJ used 2 channels for the eminent, one of the tapes was slowed down slightly to make it sound fatter

I would say that Your Eminent is out of tune Radek......


Oxy 6 is pitched correctly to the notation of Cm on the album,have you played another synth tuned @440 hz Along to the Album version,You probably find that is perfect...and its your eminent that needs tuning.


Mine sounds fine against Oxy 6,I know my mines in tune cos I've not long retuned it with


To tune it


Inside the cabinet are 12 Metal pots,one for each note of the Octave,these pots actually tune every note that it represents across the two manual keyboard,you'll need a Chromatic tuner and what is called a "Preset trimmer" its basically the shape of a pen and has a bladed end and a rubber end,the bladed end is kind of like a flatbladed screwdriver head,except its non ferrous,you have to play the note on the keyboard that your tuning(the pots are marked up with there respective notes) and slowly turn the oscillator pot with the tool until your tuner detects the correct pitch for the note,then try every other Note of the same across the octaves(you may find that not every note is 100% pitch perfect)doesnt matter as long as there all within a few cents +/-,tune every note in turn till its more or less correctly pitched,then leave it a while and then come back and check it again....it should stay int tune for a long period providing you dont move the organ all the time.....

Its a simple procedure,I'll take some pics to help you...and post them in a while


PS I wouldnt reccomend using a screwdriver either to tune it any magnetic or static charge could damage the Pots!!!

I am in love with the 310! I won a Solina Strings Ensemble and will never part with it however... how can one in the states acquire a 310? I've been to Holland a love it there but there was some kind of weight restriction with baggage. At one time I thought about visiting Amsterdam and wheeling a 310 back and claiming it as luggage. No can do... any ideas?

Ok this may help you.....


Use your chormatic tuner to see if the eminent is out of tune playing each note on the scale,your tuner will tell if its out...

But proceded to tuning.....

Inside the Cabinet are twelve of these silver Pots,these are where you tune the notes





You'll then need one of these its called a "Preset trimmer"(most electrical retailers should have them,if not try more specialist electrical shops) the small blade slots into the tuning pots so you can alter the tuning





Each of the pots,represents a Note of the scale (they will have stickers on them anyway C/C#/D/D# etc etc these tell you which note your tuning






Get yourself a Chromatic tuner,(better with one that has a Jack input as opposed t ojust a mic)plug a Jack lead from the Headphone out of the E310 Into the Tuner input(easier to tune with 2 people one plays the note whilst the other tunes the pots)(you can do it on your own,but you'll need to jam a pencil or pen under the key your tuning so the note is depressed)

then insert the Preset trimmer into the slot and move slightly(only needs a little movement as the pots are quite sensitive(turn clockwise for pitch up and anticlockwise for down....i think or the other way round)




Repeat for all the other tuning pots using the Tuner to precisely tune each note(or the ones that are out,usually not every one is out of tune,but sometimes its best to do the whole 12)
Best way to check once youve tuned a pot to play every note of that pot(all the C notes for example,just to check the discrepancies between the notes ,even though you tune the C pot ,not every C note on the manuals will be perfect pitch and you wont get perfect 100% for every note a few cents +/- is fine as it adds a little chorusing,as long as the tuning between them is not too wide....

Then leave it for a while and then just check its ok,Most of the time they are,once our happy replace rear panel and away you go....


If you dont have a tuner,you can always use one of your other synths but you'll need to have good pitch to hear the discrepancies and tune it according to your synth(anyone with good ear training can do this no probs).....

A WARNING to all who is about to do this:

First of all 'those silver pots' are coils! Secondly the trimmer is a ferrite core that is being screwed in or out.

IF YOU BREAK OFF A SMALL PART OF THE FERRITE CORE YOU WILL HAVE CHANGED THE WAVEFORM IT PRODUCES!!! you will also notice it's more difficult to tune then!!! spares are NOT available except in another 310!

Also DON'T USE ANY METAL to tune it! It must be plastic! If you accidentally magnetize the ferrite or the coil casing you are in deep deep trouble!!!!

So.... be warned and please do it carefully...use a condom^H^H^H^Hplastic trimmer.

As you will notice, if you tune 'C' then all C's change accordingly... so you only have to tune one octave (12) to tune the whole instrument... this is because the 310 uses frequency dividers (on the same board as the coil) for each octave. Discrapanties between octaves are not possible unless you have a faulty oscillator board (yes the same as where the coil is on)

I prefer to tune my 310 a little bit 'dirty' available on digital synths in the form of microtuning...

I did mention to use a non ferrous tool,the preset trimmer i have is a Plastic blade,thats why i said to not use a screwdriver as some people maybe tempted to use one and knacker the coils due to the magnetic energy in some metal screwdriver blades....
