There's a 3-minute preview demonstrating "standard" vs "binaural" on jeanmicheljarre.com

I was just going to post it.
Here are my thoughts:
Binaural is just more stereo width, so nothing more than a marketing gimmick to emulate the possibilities of surround in stereo. Exactly like hard panning of The Beatles early stereo mixes. I will preffer the standard stereo, but I might record the Binaural on cassette to use on my surround system.

Sony/Columbia should have released a CD+BD pack with the BD containing high-res stereo LPCM, high-res binaural LPCM and surround LPCM, but it's cheaper to do downloads that will be obsolete in few months and the website to claim them dead, like with Electronica.

So... Am I supposed to hear something special about that mixing?

And yeah, the downloads will be fun! Guess that's going onto my mega account to eat up another 3GB or so like Planet Jarre does...

Very good, always make a backup :-)

The binaural mix sounds wider, but it's not as amazing as Rely On Me's binaural mix was. I really thought there was someone in the room when I heard that for the first time on my headphone.

I think binaural recordings work best if they are... you know, actual binaural recordings with carefully placed microphones recording the surroundings (like that famous "barber" mp3 file where you can feel like you're actually getting a haircut). Not just some fancy mixing/post-processing.

Terrific, ordered the CD. Maybe some day I'll get the LP, but for now the CD will suffice. Especially considering the 5.1 mix comes with either.
Jote wrote: Thu Mar 04, 2021 10:07 pm LP 2 - Side 1:
01. Amazonia - Part 6 (3:33)
02. Amazonia - Part 7 (4:18)
03. Amazonia - Part 8 (3:19)
04. Amazonia - Part 9 (6:26)

LP 2 - Side 2: BLANK!
Well that's... Kind of illogical...

myfonts.com yields no results, perhaps it's taken from various fonts, perhaps designed from scratch.
