If he doesn't like Ed Starink, there is no human-death !!
For my case, I still ask me why he has all these synths to make not a lot of music...
I didn't know him before and I don't like a lot the remix he did, but maybe his solo work is good, I dunnow !

There is no better coveralist, each coveraliste make a different cover, this question has no answer
It depends of the cover you speak about, but a cover is done with a mood, so it can't have a better one

Ed Starink : I dunnow a lot of this man, I only know he has a lot of excellent synths and I only listened to samples but it's good, but we loose the original mood, IMHO

Gino Marinello : Dunnow this man at all

Radek Tymecki : Yeah, his cover rocks, I really love !!!

Per Kristian : This man is a king of synthesis, his work is beautiful ! His Virus is used @100%, he IS a real artist !!!

Mercurey : Hum, I have already read this name but dunnow him a lot :?

FrequenZ : Good material, good men, good music ! I love, we have in these covers the original mood and the warm of analogs !

Voxel 9 : It's great, a remix more than a cover, for sure, a techno touch, groovy too, but quite good !

For those that don't know it.... I am (M)ercurey. Cover day's are (almost) over and I do mainly my own music. For some years now I'm working on our first album. If you looked smart you could have found some work I'm currently doing like this (unfinished) It's the last track needed for the album (not THE last track on the CD) but I'm a bit stuck currently how to continue.

He is a very bad coverartist! He makes covers of Oxygene 4, Equinoxe 5 and Magnetic Fields 2. Maybe other Jarresongs (wich I hope not!). He has a cd called "Oxygene (18 greatest synthesizer melodies)" with coverversions of Jarre, Vangelis Michael Jackson, Europe, ... Sometimes he called The Gino Marinello Orchestra and sometimes The Gino Marinello Synthesizer Section... :wink:

Sorry from me, Andy and moderators, I was the first one to criticise Ed Starink in an unsubtle way on this thread (witch might have fired up the discussion the way it went). I'll explain more the next time I'm critical okay? It was not my call to diss his music ( or question his place in the poll). While his music is quite elaborate. I just choose not to like it, and that should have been the message.
But having said that, music that comes from electronic sources, can stir emotions, positive or negative, and that's a good thing.

Chapeau for Mercurey. I saw the group live in 1997 in De Lier, Holland on the Jarre-day and it was good for me. 8) :wink:

But my question for Johan is:

Wanneer komt er eens een cd of DVD uit van jullie goede Jarre-covers? :wink:

Right. I have never heard of Gino Marinello, and it is rude to pass off someone who tries.

Secondly, I am not 'biased' against Ed Starink, but that Overture cover is absolute bollocks. (Admins, you can star that out if it's too offensive for you :) ) It is very blurred, particularly towards the end, and the drums are awful too. Just stop insulting everyone that doesn't like Ed Starink.

I'll translate first: "When is there going to be a cd or DVD from your good Jarre-covers"

Well... mabye never.... We only released the De Lier video and lateron it was available for download one track per month. I don't have any plans to release other things beside our first album. If there are enough ppl who want the old covers on a cd or something I want to rerecord them first. In those early days there was no CD-RW I did everything on tape... and they degrade over time... besides with today's techniques it can be done much much better. It would take at least a year or so with my current speed of producing (Electron was born 31-12-2005 and it's still not finished). There is also one minor problem because we had a split in the band quite some time ago (John vd Stap was forced out of the band because of his dreadfull performance in the Lier and other things) I used several of his instruments like the JD800 and SY99. Fortunately we have the JD800 again and 990 because of Jan (Mahut) bought them. Whole Chrono is build arround the JD800/990. The other minor problem is I used the AN1x for example for Oxygene 8. That instrument is no longer in our posession and there are other minor problems... so that's why I want to rerecord them with the kit we currently have. If Jan wants to cooperate.....

I enjoyed those mercury pieces very much too, indeed. Maybe the most pro of them all :D So, those plans sound great to me, Johan :)

As for covers - me loves frequenz's and mercurey's ones.

marcin [itsmeonly] makes beautyful covers. sometimes they're pretty diffrent than original ones but that's the point!

JP Bouteille and Zoolookologue are missing whereas their covers are pretty impressive : Chronologie 6, Magnetic Fields 1, Blah blah Cafe for JPB and Equinoxe 5 for Zoolookologue.
