The cd in the jewal case and dvd case versions of LIYLR was a remastered/mixed version of the 76 album and not audio from the "live" 2D/3D studio version. The MOS free cd was that same cd as in those sets.

Well, JMJ did did them... now it's just a blattant money chase...
Dreyffus may forget about seeing any money, JMJ about having a label, and EMI is counting on 750k plus all other earnings while watching the fight from the VIP Room.. no pun intended.

For it's not EMI's fault, so they will ask JMJ for the $$$ back, fire him on the spot, they EMI will say Dreyffus to get their matters straight with JMJ, which is no longer their employee for breaking contract, and since EMI has no fault, the morning paper will get the same answer from them... in court.

It all end's up in either Dreyffuss being payed by Jarre, or not, and Jarre broke in either case. Not good, altough an independent album and concerts, with some help from many many talented fans and professionals could save the day (make more than that money) in an unheard of internet marketing move - Radiohead who?

So, if I understand this correctly, Jarre has the orginal audio tapes of the album but Dreyfus owns certain rights over the recordings. For the 2007 release, Jarre has them cleaned, made digtal copies, and then put the album back together again as if it were recorded last month?.

Yes as in Dreyfus clamis that JMJ has just used the original recordings, which are under Dreyfus' rights.

We all know the CD isn't re-recorded, just some minor parts/details in it are a new recording where the rest of it is CLEARLY recorded in 1976...

If the new Oxygene isn't a re-recording then why did he go into all that technical detail about the re-recording process in 'Sound on Sound'?

It seems like Jarre has made a conscious lie. I can't imagine him doing this (unless he was REALLY desperate after Teo and Tea!). Perhaps Dreyfus are confused because it's so good?

This is total bollox,Jarre messed with the recording aspects both in a mix perspective and an edited perspective and presented it in a newer format recording, in a court of law that would stand up as not being the original,even if Dreyfus had it analyzed there is no way he can totally prove that Jarre simply took it from the Master tapes or not,there are audible discrepancies between them which tells you which is the original and the newer version jarre made these obvious so it wasn't one and the same,so dreyfus has to have some solid proof it wasn't rerecorded,so unless he was in on the recording sessions he can't..so even if he did lift the recording,he's changed it audibly which makes it a newer version which Jarre can claim its rerecorded.

I could do a cover of one of Jarres tracks add a couple of notes to the original melody and copyright it as my own music and Jarre could not sue me,because in the eyes of the Musical copyright law its not the same composition because of minor differences and the same with Jarre and the Oxygene fiasco,we all know its obvious this is all he did,and all this talk about the technical aspects of rerecording are just a backup Like I've said all along but dreyfus cannot prove he didn't rerecord it


why have dreyfus decided to pursue it??He took his time really,and did he really think that Jarre had handed over the one and only single copy of the Multitracks??What the hell did he think was used for the backings for tracks for Concerts,Even after he parted company with Dreyfus!!!

I don't see how Dreyfus can file a lawsuit there is no sure way of actually proving that this is all Jarre did simply lift the master tapes and play around with it,
From where I stand,Dreyfus is fucking pissed about Jarre giving away free copies of the Remaster in the mail on sunday which will harm Dreyfus's future oxygene sales...What a complete money grabbing tosser Dreyfus is,After all the money Jarre has made him!!!Has he not made enough Money with almost 12 Million copies being sold??

I hope Jarre wipes the floor with this ass,which I'm sure given the way the Law acts with copyrights there shouldn't be any issues seeing as Dreyfus cannot physically or audibly prove.


In any case all this Publicity is good for Promotion for Jarre..

Well I don't always agree, but the point is logical.
From what you all have written, it seems like JMJ has a good chance, if he stick to his own statement. It's ofcourse a bad start if the relationship between Jarre and EMI is what these sources say.

EDIT: When will Dreyfus retire? I always thought he looked very old from those 20 years old concert videos.

Very bad, unexpected news. But I feel Jarre is not absolutely clean here. Concerts will take place. Jarre will pay moneay and leave EMI.

Next station - maybe Universal?

More information would be nice to have.

With all his financial backing and Business dealings why the hell does Jarre simply not have his own Independant Label to which he can come and go and release what the hell he likes..

He obviously doesn't get the results he aims for with all these other labels either from financial means or controlling means otherwise he wouldn't chop and change all the time..and to be involved with a Legal wrangling with Dreyfus which will for sure cause ripples within EMI,they obviously won't fair too well with relations,given their current financial problems,if this Lawsuit goes badly he could find himself floating around for a new label yet again..

Why doesn't he Just form an AERO productions Label and have control over every aspect of his Music from composition to promotion to sales...He hardly needs to make a name for himself...It just seems like such a disaster for Jarre being on any label that he should look to keeping his business Dealings closer to home..

Already having dealt with Possibly the largest Music Label in the World,Sony,things obviously took a turn for the worst with them and now if things go Sour with EMI too,he'll be seen as a Liability to which he'll have used up all his Joker cards for Label commitment.Having bad relations with two Large Music corporations is not good for his Name irrespective of How big and Famous he is..
