Today I learned that there is a technique called "Jarre à la Corde":

which basically is a technique for decorating a jar with rope (very simplified, sorry).

That makes the 7" release of the La Concorde tracks "Jarre à la Concorde" a fun wordplay. Never knew that.

Has anyone tried looking for more PDLC related stuff under the name "Paris Tricolore"? Just curious since I've seen some photos of the concert on Gettyimages that use that name.

The Eurovision TV broadcast is called just that.

Oh yeah, blue blanc rouge. Somehow I summarized that as tricolore in my head.

When I was working on a project about La Défense, I was using some kind of French archival website that had a ton of photos of the area, it wasn't INA but I think it was tied to the French government.

When I have some free time I'll need to see if they have anything about the 1979 Bastille Day celebrations as a whole, there might be a chance that there's some photos of the concert there if it was archived. Worth a shot, right?

See earlier in this thread. Four years ago, I asked about pre-concert publicity. For example, newspaper or magazine articles, printed flyers, posters etc.

I'd love to see materials shared before the concert. There must be something out there that announced the show. I can imagine fly-posters being stuck up around Paris on walls or buildings, featuring the Oxygene and Equinoxe cover artwork and a date and location.

I am aware the show was officially called "Paris: Blue-White-Red" and was an initiative of the Mayor of Paris office, at the time the incumbent was Jacques Chirac.

So, did the mayor's office produce all the pre-show publicity? Is it therefore a matter of public record?

Perhaps ask to see all the publications that came from the office of the Mayor of Paris in May, June and July 1979?

I've found the site that I was talking about earlier here, it seems that the page with the archival photos of La Defense has been erased, and I'm worried that they might have wiped their logs or something.

So far I've only tried "Place de la Concorde 1979" since my time was limited, but now that I'm home I'll start trying to look up the other names that I know the concert was referred to as.

In old photos of Jarre at La Concorde, we can see an *Europe 2* radio van; the station must have broadcast the concert live across France... but I never found out if anyone had a recording of it...

I think it was a dedicated page within the www.culture.fr site. It was online well before any official JMJ site, but around the same time as fansites began to appear (1996 onwards).
