one things for sure,You can't say Jarre,used them with the belief that no Fan of his would not buy an MC808 and not recognise the patterns.,maybe thats why he Got Tim Hufken Involved because of His work with Roland,and it inspired Jarre to want to use those patterns,he could have easily collaborated on there conception anonymously,he doesn'y have to have his name directly associatted with them,the fact is we don't all know the full story behind the whole conception,so we should resever Judgement till aal the facts have been realised

I mean C'mon if we're all honest how many of us have bought a synth that Jarre's used for that reason his influence of using it made you think about getting one,I've got at least 3 Synths that I bought which were a staple part of Jarre's equipment and by him using them that I gained an interest in it..Since this discovery about the MC808 has come to light its got me more interested in its operational aspects.


I like the album in parts and whether its premade or not by Jarre or whoever,I've bought it and nothing changes that,I knew nothing of the involvement of the MC808 in this premade form prior to buying it and suppose most others who bought it did neither,so It still doesn't change my View on the tracks I like on the Album,and Isuspect we'll all find out in due course about Jarre's involment of it

I like some parts of the album too, exactly "Fresh News" and "Beautiful Agony". Now that I know that tracks are builded from Roland Synth's presets, what may I say, that I like TIM's work or JARRE's work?.

I remember he said (or was said) that he did programming work for the 808

You can read in "Téo & Tèa" booklet "Tim Hüfken: Groove Box special programming and artistic collaboration: Groove Box MC 808 and Sonar Sequencer".

I think that's clear.

Wich percentaje of JARRE's own music is in "Tèo & Tèa" and wich is MC 808 preset? 6 tracks from a synth memory, and the rest, really JARRE? What about GARRAUD?

Thanks Jakob, but I have already seen the one that was filmed at NAMM. Good little video, but doesn't really give the machine much credit.

I think it's a really cool sounding machine; it is surprisingly light in term of weight (not in sound, luckily) but has a solid feel, also given by the aluminium surface.
The power supply is external, a feature that I never like, although in a live performance machine this is probably a good point (unless you forget the transformer at home when you move!)

The motorised faders are good, just don't expect Penny & Giles faders! But they are a very nice tool and they are touch sensitive as you can expect. If you don't need the faders to be moving you can quickly disable/enable this function, to make them a longer life and to reduce the mechanical noise they do in the "outside world".

The only thing I really miss is that the pads ar non-velocity sensitive. Very surprising; ok for triggering phrase samples, but to input drum patterns I would have liked to have velocity, at least like on the good old Boss DR-660 drum machine. You have tools, tough, to edit velocity after the input.
