A roland representative told me, that the GT is a half of SH201 and half of VP550, but with better filters than SH201..

So long and farewell, the GT has to go back to Roland as it has a fault
The screen keeps 'freezing'. It's got a lot worse over the past 3 weeks and Roland say that they recently had a similar complaint. They have said they will either replace the screen and components or replace the whole synth - but if this is something thats just coming to light, a fault with the GT, then I dont want another synth. I may just opt for my money back and go and get something in it's place - like a Andromeda which I have on my list for 2008.

Thats whay I Never buy any synth or software that has just been released,your always best to be at least 12-18 months behind technology,that way the bugs usually have been ironed out and the machine more stable...
Is there any way to Initialize the synth?or do a OS test,most synths have a self test mode that can repair issues like this it may just be some corrupted data in the machine and a reset would resolve it???have you spoken to any of the Roland tech people??
Roland usually are pretty on the ball with repairs etc,(although there pretty slow with OS upgrades)I would go for a Replacement model rather than a repair,it will never feel comfortable again and you'll always be expecting the same thing to happen,unless you get a new Machine that you can trust .you've had it less than 12 months (Although Roland gives 3 year warranty) I would expect a new machine not a repair.
Roland have a good reputation of customer Service so I'm sure it will get resolved with minimal of fuss and inconvenience.

All I have done so far is factory reset it, which has not cured the problem.
I dont like the idea of having a new synth (or item for that matter) to be sent away and repaired. It just is not the same afterwards. I have to contact Roland again early next week to make arragements for it to be collected, but at the moment I really dont want it back if there are problems with these models.
In one way its a blessing. I know Roland have a good repretation of good synths, but I just cant get use to the GT. The sound engine is far too ethnic for my liking. Some 3 weeks ago I had the chance to play on a Andromeda and I fell in love with it. But at that time I kept kicking myself saying "why didn't I look more into this before the GT", as I would have gone for the Andy. Maybe this is someone or something saying "now yours chance to get an Andy"

Sorry to hear that!
I hate when a new item have to be send in for repair, cos then one might as well have bought a used one. The nice feeling of it being new goes down the drain.

Shit that's bad, sorry to hear this. My experiences with Roland gear have been top notch so far and I've had loads, including old stuff.
To hear this may be a common fault will likely put me off a GT for some time. Good luck with the replacement.

As the saying goes "shit happens" and "things happen for a reason". But I do feel strongly about having the GT repaired or replaced. If I have it replaced I will be looking out for the same fault or other faults and if its repaired, its now longer new and original (as in factory complete)

Hmm seems like haven't got anything else than problems by getting the GT, as we say in Jylland "Det er sku' træls". Hope you get it solved or get rid of it
