Anyway I really wonder what is the magic behind those trance sounds, if synth without the supersaw can do it... like the NL3. This kind of music is always said to have been easily made, but those sounds are even more mysterious to e than any other It is really difficult for me to get the sounds I want on the NL2x. I found out that ringmodulator does it for some sounds with the right distortion, but I haven't really found that heavy trancy sound. Maybe the lack of delay, reverb or something?

All you need is a synth capable of Two sawtooths(one on each oscillator) with detuning and a Unison mode,you don't have to have the Hypersaw or Supersaw,its just that those synths like the JP8 or Virus have a more featured sawtooth wave designed for that sort of sound
Any VA or real analog synth can create a trance sound,and your nord should be able to cope with creating those timbres easy enough

If you want to add more weight to a sound this is where a sub oscillator would help,The JP only has a Supersaw on Oscillator one anyway,so you can easily get a decent clone with your Nord using a Unison mode to detune and phatten up the sawtooths in the same way

Yes that was actually the recipe I used for the sound earlier in this thread, I guess I am just coulered by those hyper sounds to thinks it doesn't sound good enough.

Well the NL has a Multimode???Stack up a few programs made up using those sounds and just transpose a few of them up or down an octave in Multimode to create a Wide phat timbre put them all on the same Midi channel so its like playing one sound,of course how large it will sound depends on your Polyphony count,but thats how you can achieve Phatter sounds by using Layering,

I first heard bout this layering method recently. Never thought about it before, I'll try it. Thanks for helping!

I remember the demos of the JP8k patches...

Anyway I'll have to check out the NL2 patches, I just need to organize my patches so I won't lose them by importing these new sounds.

Hmm I just tried to import the patches from synthdesign but it didn't work, for some unknown reason
Anyway I just screwed up my bank0 Or it is identical to bank 2 because Clavia's downloadable banks are screwed...

You did uncompress them?

yes I even checked with another bank to control if the Nord was able to receive data.
