Well I was thinking about patch chords and such. It should surely be possible to memorize those, but load them from memory?

Yeah, why not? Take a simple tape recorder for example. It stores voltages and plays them back, if necessary. The same way should work such a device. A analog to digital converter for storing, a digital to analog converter for "playback". Of course not only one, there must be several of them or a bunch of 4051 including some capacitors to hold the voltage on its I/O´s. I´m quite sure that it works. I´ve designed a while ago, for testing, a simple polyphonic Synthesizer, based of several NE555s, which works exactly like this method. It´s quite simple: A Processor controls with three bits the three A/B/C-Lines of a 4051, while its voltage input is being feeded by a Processor-Controlled DAC. Every output of the 4051 was buffered. The Processor counts the 4051 and feeds the CV-Input of a NE555 with a specific, buffered voltage. So the 4051 can feed up to 8 NE555 at the same time. The only problem is the correct choose of the capacitors, so that they fall and load as fast as possible, without loosing power before they get their refresh from the 4051/Processor. But that was all with positive voltage, i don´t know for sure how a capacitor reacts if it gets loaded with negative voltage.GeeJee wrote:Well I was thinking about patch chords and such.
