I have no idea, i know too few about it. Curious, I also had not considered this thing. ....reminds me a bit on a situaton where i´ve mailed to Natalie, that i wanna make a Album, which reflects each hour of a day of a human life, but i had no Idea about the "sense" of the Equinoxe Album. Yes, so things add themselves together .

Hi!

I'd like to show you the building off in steps

Here's my first attempt in creating the GMS250. I decided first to do a GMS125 version because it fit's perfectly on _my_ screen. I'll make a full 250 lateron It's then simply copy 'n paste for the second half

Too bad the original pic is a bit unsharp but it's a start. I can always redesign it lateron. For now it supplies the measurements and positions.


I'll post some more picz or even a flick to show how it operates First the GFX part then the functional part (usually they go along simultaniously). First problem already is Reaktor works with 4px * 4px as smalest alignable objects and in a multiple of 4 so... that's bad if I want the full 250 on 1024 width max.. The GFX will be far more work then to make it actually work...

Only the Matrix decoding and LED controlling unit for now (48 Steps). Then comes the octave holes/their decoder/"interpreter" and the rest of the holes. Then the up/down buttons and their control unit, after that a Sort of "Polyphonic" CV encoder, the Midi control processor, the Clock generator (inside the microcon) blahblahblah....

Stef's version is the real thing: hardware!!

My version is, as you can see, for NI's Reaktor.. aka zachte waar (software)

I won't be able to do anything about it today since today is the final session for the Album pre-mastering!!!!

Nah, using that or that, it´s somewhere the same. But i strongly doubt that i´ll ever get this thing working because of a missing and freely available matrix in this size=>it would be simply too expensive to use real switches. -Or- i build by my own a Matrix, but that´s a lot of work.

I would do first a normal hardware version without special "extensions", then -maybe- later adding something like dump programs by SysEx or storing/recall them in memory.

It is one of my wishes to build once real matrisequencer. With a modular synth.

As i´ve found out, are Patchfields in this size only available from two manufacturers (the last ones) and they produce only fields, where the x-axis must have the same amount of dots like the y-axis and -only- by request. The prices are very high too, a 8x8 Marix without pins about 80-100€, a single pin about 2-3€. That means you would easily lost over 1000 Euro alone for the Matrix and that is, of course, way too expensive. Even if would build a selfmade-Matrix, from where should i buy the Pins?

No way, guys. The only possibilities would be once the "touch-sensitive hole"-solution or push-buttons with momentary action; i´m able to get these for a very low price. That additionally means a re-design using at least a memory chip>2K.

I´ll work later on a solution.

Works...currently as a smaller Version....you´ll press a key, the device switches automatically to the row and adds the pressed key into the memory. Only the function of turning off a key is missing, but that comes all...
