After many hours/days of servicing only LED diodes are not working

Have you been able to keep your hands of it instead of just trying to fix it?

Ok that's cool I wasn't aware of that the Emulator has a sequencer.

That Oberheim looks beautiful. I would love to have one of those but I'd probably be better off with a Jupiter 6 instead. Never understood the thing with Jupiter 8 though. Too 80's for my taste.

The JP8 is one of the analog synths that is perfectly after my head, but also very expensive. That it sounds so 80's is almost the best part of it But no wonder as it was one of the most popular polysynths back then, and is found in several hits from the 80's together with the Prophet-5.

The Jupiter 8 has always been a favourite synth of mine,if the right one came along at a decent price I'd buy no Questions asked,today they are a bit overinflated in the 2nd hand market,I recently seen one go for £1700,without midi retrofit,whilst it was in superb mint condition,there are far superior analogs around for less money
If only Roland had made the JP8000 the same Build Quality as the original Jupiter,build like a tank and made of Metal..the JP8000 is one of my favourite toonot Quite as convincing soundwise as its counterpart,but the JP8000 is to the Jupiter 8 what the SH201 is to the JP8000..

Both the SH-201 and the JP-8K are plastic. I don't think that they are very different from each other actually.

I think You're wrong

I think they are different (the retail price tolds something too the SH201 price is about 550€(new) and the jp8000 price was about 1200€ when it was released)

(the price of used jp8000 is still 900€ in Finland)

I wonder how the 201 could be so much cheaper... it must have been built even cheaper or something, unless the JP8000 was very expensive compared to what it was back then. I don't know what the JP feels like but synths with plastic casing can be much different.

Yeah, many JP-8K users says so too.
A while ago I had the chance to test them both side by side but I thought that they sounded very similar. But the SH-201 is based on the JP-8K and the V-synth so it didn't surprise me. The resolution of the DSP was better in the JP-8K. But since it was more expensive I hoped that it would be. The SH-201 felt cheaper. But the funny thing was that it was cheaper to buy new than the secondhand JP next to it. So I guess one can't complain.

Anyways. I don't think that JP is worth more today than a SH-201. It's old now and sadly soundwise there has been no progress when building the SH-201.
Enough bashing. I liked them both actually. They are good standard VA:s. But frankly I'd rather pay 600 Euro for a used Nordlead 2 or two An1X than a JP-8K today.
